As has been suggested, auction plus your local hospice furniture warehouse if you have one for good quality and very good prices.
I wouldn't go to DFS to even wipe my feet on their doormat ! Argos and Homebase are part of the same buying group and the quality is rubbish..................

E-bay is good for furniture and you can sort the lists to find those sellers closest to you.
A few years ago I bought an Ercol suite and then replaced the cushions and webbing all from E-bay - overall, the cost was less than £250 and the suite would have retailed for well over £2,000 originally.
Also, charity furniture stores are great value and tend to stock good quality items.
Happy hunting.......
