A great all round laptop, it features an Intel Core 2 Duo processor for doing multiple tasks and a comprehensive specification to give you the performance to handle all of your day to day needs.

and also got;

Plug in and play with the Western Digital DD3 5 640gb External Hard Drive. Featuring 640GB of storage space its ideal for storing music, movies and games and with its easy to use USB connection, it is compatible with Windows XP and Vista.

    No need to worry, it's not going to blow anything up.

    Nah, very unlikely.

    Only things I know blow up a computer:

    Litterally exploding laptops due to dodgy batteries (odd report of Dells doing this, see http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/1042700/dell-laptop-explodes-japanese-conference), oh and I once lost my computer due a capacitor blown in the powerpack, I was not happy because it destroyed virtually everything in the computer bar my LG cd-rw, which I suspect could survive an atom bomb!

    I will tempt fate, and say, that I never heard of any dangerous incidents involving Toshiba laptops, and generally found these to be far the most reliabe make, and i've had a fair few and typing on one now.

    As above. The only thing I can think of that may cause a problem is if the external drive is powered by the USB - it may ask for more power than the laptop can provide. OTOH, if it has its own power supply I really can see no problem.

    Just clicked your link. Own supply - no problem!

    Agree, but it does say it is 3.5 inch drive, and I've not come across one that's usb powered.
    Move along, nothing to see.

    One mistake that a novice could well make - and which would indeed cause serious damage - would be to connect a powered external drive to a computer by both USB and Firewire at the same time... :eek:
