And TBQH is it really worth investigating further for 8p? It will cost you more in phone charges, or for a stamp, than you would actually get back...
I don't think that's what the OP was asking:
"I'm just wondering if this is allowed and is it illegal? I know the sums are small but I thought it should be brought up. ""She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

The company will be accounting for VAT @ 15%, it's just that they haven't changed the receipt.
Dont forget, businesses had less than a week to get tills re-reprogrammed, software packages changed, and everything else too. It was a massive exercise to try and get done in the timescale.
M&S a few months ago still had items priced at say £20 but when got to till it was less - the tickets were priced at 17.5% but the tills gave the reduction to 15% VAT.0 -

I think some places even reduced prices by at least 2.5% and thereby actually giving a greater reduction to the customer than they were getting."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I got charged 17.5% vat at the Vodafone shop the other week, and on the receipt breakdown the amount charged was 17.5% not 15% when i doubled checked on the calculator
Item was £49 got charged £8.57 should have been £7.35 if i have worked it out correctly0 -

Would have been £41.70 if you were charged 17.5% VAT. Which would mean you should have paid £6.26 VAT for total of £47.96 (well 47.97 taking into account rounding errors)."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Hi,
I took out a commercial lease some years ago and it states the monthly payment is xx including 17.5% VAT paid monthly by DD.
I have received no notification that they are now charging 15% or any notification of a payment increase to cover this 2.5% reduction.
As far as I am aware I am still paying 17.5%.
Are they breaking the law?
Thanks

Depends, my bet is they are pocketing the difference which they are allowed to do and sending 15% to the government, i would ask them why it hasnt come down.0
