Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...

• just had an email from:- service @ paypal . co . uk (remove spaces as won't allow me to post links yet!) saying that there is unusual activity on my paypal account, there was no link in the email. but went into my paypal to check everything was ok, it asks me for card details, and account number, as yet i have not disclosed such information, but the thing that caught my eye is that i signed up on paypal .com, not .co.uk, am confused as to what to do now, any help would be much appreciated!!

Don't worry this is just a scam (pretty stupid at that) , if you can get to the "original" mailer.Lots of people receive this even they don't have account with PPal .They probably just scraped some emails and send at random.
Sender :
<!--IP: 91.142.211.174 -->
Country: Spain
City: Madrid
Hosting: Axarnet Comunicaciones SL
Organization: AXARNET, Nodo en Madrid
This IP address has Hostname -<!-tarotara.com--> :A

, it maybe that this server is compromised ,but i doubted they actually offer

Visa Tarrot Reading :T
You will give them your card number and they will predict the future of your bank account :T

This is not funny and non of my business but if a newbie can find this for few minutes ,you really shouldn't worry about it ,just don't click any links .(or if in doubt don't reply just call to resolve whatever issue)
They will probably change IP and all in short time
Anybody can get scammed these days so...
• Is member@paypal.co.uk a real paypal email or a spoof?

I received an email which is supposed to be from paypal but I am suspicious that it is fake. It could be from a guy that just won an auction on one of my items since it lists his name and address. The reason i'm suspicious is that I no longer use this email address for my paypal account and also on my sold items page ebay says that the item hasn't been paid for even though the email below claims otherwise. What it does say is that payment was initiated on 18th but there is no money in my account - it says it is being processed which I find unusual as the payment is normally instant via paypal. Also the email addresses my by my old email address not by my name or username. Do you think it could be fake or not?

Yes its fake.
If your item is showing as not sold and pp has no transaction showing then just delete it and ignore.

I am actually quite concerned that you are even half considering this to be real, anyone who uses PayPal should be so aware of this fake PayPal scam that you don't even bother reading it.

We can win against the scum bag scammers, but only if we make sure we always understand how the process works.

• I received a spoof email allegedly from PayPal today, which I have reported to spoof@paypal.co.uk

It came from PayPal Service service@pp.co.uk and had the PayPal Logo and read as follows:

Dear (My first name) (My last name)
We need your help resolving an issue with your account. To give us time to work together on this, we've temporarily limited what you can do with your account until the issue is resolved.
We understand it may be frustrating not to have full access to your PayPal account. We want to work with you to get your account back to normal as quickly as possible.
How can you help ? It's usually quite straight forward to take care of these things. Most of the time, we just need some more information about your account or latest transactions.

1.
Download the attached document and open it with your browser.
2.
Confirm that you are the account holder and follow the instructions.

• I received three of these emails yesterday, they look convincing, but I wouldn't click on anything just go to my account and check everything is ok.

But I will have to warn my mum, she would open anything that said it was about money. She'd panic and that's how they prey on people.
