Our Sky box has been TOTALLY cut off after we cancelled subscription.

Around a month ago we finally called Sky up & cancelled our subscription, they weren't too pleased, I tell you. A letter then arrived saying we'd be cut off 24th July.
Yesterday we found we couldn't see Sky (paid) channels & that was what we expected, of course. We could see the freeview channels. However, today there is power to the box but it will not switch on.
Is this normal please or should we be receiving the free to air channels ?
Thanks.

Sounds like it's a hardware problem with the box - possibly a dead HDD.0

Do a forced reset on the box. If that doesn't work then a box on eBay is as cheap as chips-round my way peple give them away on Freecycle, as everyone is going Sky+.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Is the red light on when its plugged in the wall, but the light does not turn to green?0

As for the box you are stuffed if its broke as you are out of contract.Kind Regards

It seems like it's just an unfortunate coincidence that the box may have failed so soon after you've cancelled.
If a force reset doesn't work as mentioned above, they can be had pretty cheaply from Ebay. Even try your local Freecycle.Dave. :wave:0 -
Just get another Sky Receiver, either Freecycle or Car Boot Sale, I got a working unit for £3.00 with a Remote Control at my Car Boot recently.0

Just Incredible: The box' was showing a red light so power was entering it but it wouldn't turn green, yes correct.
macman: Hubby's just now looking at instructions & will try a forced reset. Thanks. I'll be back.0
