Does this offer stop you using such as Primus? (which has cheaper calls to mobiles etc, and gives free calls until 8 am instead of BT's 6 am)

With the exception of Primus's Penny Mobile 2 CPS package (which gives a fixed rate for calls to UK mobiles of 20p for 20 minutes but which now apears impossible to sign up for) 18185 still cannot be beaten for calls to mobiles.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I would still like the freedom to set up a CPS deal.

But the other thing is, it says "Excludes customers benefiting from some special offers or deals." - Do we know what that means? For instance will I still be able to get free "Privacy" and the associated Caller ID Display (or whatever it's called!)

I would still like to know whether I could register for "privacy at home" with free Caller ID under this offer, and could I use prefixes such as 18185?

The answers are yes and yes. See paragraph [3] HERE for my recommendations on how/when to use 18185 when you're on BT's Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan.

Just wanna thank the op for this saving tip.

Called BT today after receiving my renewal letter and asked for the £1 discount deal. First guy had no idea of offer, I too went through the website with him to clarify. He then transferred me to someone in 'options' who could authorise the offer. When she came through she new exactly why I was calling (first guy must have briefed her) and without prompt offered to double the discount to £2 per month! Result!

(Credit will be applied as £24 on next bill).

    Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the information on the £1 off offer. I also had difficulty in taking up the offer. Three phone calls, and even after directing them to the offer in the terms and conditions they still could not find the option for this package on their system. Eventually I emailed, and like another poster has mentioned, someone from 'Customer Options' called me back. £12 discount off next bill. I would suggest anyone wanting this offer to speak directly to this department.

I called to for this offer today. I already have the free evening n weekend calls offer on my account. After speaking to two different people, still holding on the phone. Been on the phone for 45 minutes now.
Finally she went and checked with her supervisor after I pointed her to the offer on their website and cancelled my current contract which was running out on 14th Aug anyway and started me on this new £10.25/month contract.
    Thanks to OP
I will check on my account later to confirm.

I was given this number to call 08000857357 by the first advisor.
I wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T

Erm - From my talks with BT, I think the £2/month off thing is seperate to the OP's £1/month off offer, and the £2/month is something they can offer customers who have (for instance) been getting the run-around. But the £2/month is NOT renewable, whereas I think the £1/month does carry over into following years. - That's what I think, for what it's worth :naughty:.

    You are correct.
The extra £1 off is not the same as the £2 off (£24 credit offer)

The offer is also available on the anytime plan.
The 2 offers are as follows (with paper free billing if not add £1.25)

Line rental £11.25 free evening and weekend calls saving £2.95 plus extra £1.00 off = £10.25 a month.

Or £11.25 line rental and anytime calls for £4.95 plus £1.00 off = £15.20 a month.
Plus you can also apply for the £24.00 line rental credit.
This has to be done by the customer options team and remember these are 12 month renewable contracts so you will be tied in
