wow Joscar that looks brilliant - you must be really pleased
All of the seeds that I have sewn have started to come through - so far so good
I am going to have to raise the netting somehow now though as the weight of the net is bending the seelings over - it has kept any potential pests out though. My Mum is going to give me a big tub that she has spare so that I can start to grow rhubarb and I picked up my 2 water butts yesterday. Just have to sweet talk my Dad again to come and fit them for me, poor Dad :rotfl: I am sure he will thank me when I give him some of my home grown veggies. I have also promised some out to my neighbour for watering them for me while I am away. I hope they like radishes - I planted a whole row and they have all come through

I am very pleased, we have eaten quite a bit of lettuce already and lots of radishes. I can not wait to try the tomatoes and potatoes when they are ready.
With the radishes don't make the same mistake as me and leave it too long before sowing more. We have nearly finished eating the first batch, but the second batch are only about 10 days old so we will have to wait a while for them :rolleyes:HOW MUCH CAN YOU SAVE?: OLYMPIC CHALLENGE 2007BRONZE 10% SILVER 25% GOLD 50% PLATINUM 75%January 7%February 13%March 20%April 27%May 32%June 39%July 45%August 54%September 62%October 68%0 -

Hello
I'm a first time veggie grower and have been growing all of my stuff in pots which sit on an old dining table in my garden to keep the slugs off. My garden is full of slugs and snails and so far so good.
My problem now is that the table is becoming too full. Its very large and holds two grow bags and probably 10 containers but some of the plants are so large (courgette) that they are overshadowing others.
Can anyone tell me if I can safely move any of my veggies to the floor i.e. Am I growing anything the slugs don't like?
I have
Strawberries x 2
Spinach
Lettuces
mixed salad
Green beans
spring onion
radishes
tomatoes x 2
coriander
turnips
rocket
courgettes x 4
any advice is appreciated.
And on another note...Is it too early to plant garlic?0 -
Hello, just a quick question about my pepper plants. I've been growing them indoors and they're doing really well at the moment, loads of beautiful green leaves. My question is do they grow flowers like my strawberries and tomatoes have and then produce peppers? Do they need to be outdoors so insects can pollinate them?
Feel really stupid asking this question, but just want to get it right.
So far we have had 5 or 6 homegrown strawberries and we have to divide each one into four pieces to share between the family, such is the excitement at growing our own fruit and veg!!
Also I've been feeding my blueberries with tomato food, is that the right thing to do? The plant hasn't died yet so I'm thinking it's not too bad?
As you can see I'm a gardening novice!0 -

thanks
Thanks starlite
I have tried mushrooms before, I bought a complete kit with the right compost and spores included. Nothing happened for ages , then lots of mushrooms all at once. It was quiet easy, but you need to have the right place for it. I think popular places are cellars or a dark cupboard under the stairs. I would not do it again as the only place dark enough I have is the airing cupboard and the damp and the flies the soil attracted did not do my clean laundry any favours !! :eek:HOW MUCH CAN YOU SAVE?: OLYMPIC CHALLENGE 2007BRONZE 10% SILVER 25% GOLD 50% PLATINUM 75%January 7%February 13%March 20%April 27%May 32%June 39%July 45%August 54%September 62%October 68%0 -

Garlic for next year? They usually put it in during November but there is nothing to stop you putting a few cloves in now. You can use all of the garlic plant while it is green.
thanks for this raeble, think I will wait for October/November.
Would you mind offering a little more advice?
I’m so excited about all the veg I am growing and how succesful it has been. :j :j Can you tell me if there are any veggies which can be harvested through winter?0
