in Water bills
Hello,
Our water company (via subcontractors) have recently been in touch. They are trying to resolve sewer flooding on our street (we've never been affected but 2 houses further along the street have).
As part of the initial investigation to understand the flooding mechanism, they plan to undertake CCTV, manhole and flow surveys in the surrounding area. The purpose of these surveys is to build a hydraulic model in order to understand the flooding mechanism and propose a suitable solution.
They need to access the manhole in our garden CCTV and manhole surveys, plus possibly install a flow monitor inside the manhole for a few months.
Has anyone else had this doen? Is there anything in particular we need to be aware of? If they find a problem realted to pipework in our garden...can we be found liable?
Many thanks,
Woo

Depends if the manhole is your responsibilty or that of the water co. You're not responsible for the sewers on your own property if the drains are shared with other properties and were built before 1/10/1937. If it's not shared then you are responsible for the sewer up to the connection with the public sewer. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
