Are there any genuine specialist firms which provide assistance with purchasing a house, who oversee the whole process of buying a house from start to finish including negotiating a better price for the buyer and pinpoint potential problems with a property?

None specifically that do not charge for the pleasure.
Some mortgage brokers without charge and solicitors do something similar however it depends on the Broker/Solicitor and what you are looking for specifically.

Here is a post I was asked by some people to write about exactly the thing you are asking for.
Hope it helps.

I think the official term is "relocation agents" or property search agents.
Either way, they act under contract (normally requiring an upfront retainer fee) with commission payable by the buyer on the purchase price, in other words remuneration like a kind of reverse estate agent.
This is exactly what Kirsty and Phil of "Relocation, Relocation Relocation" fame, do...0 -
