Vodafone monthgly contract, but direct debit with Carphone Warehouse

Just signed up for a pay monthly mobile contract with Vodafone through the Carphone Warehouse website.

The contract is £20 pm, and the Vodafone website shows £30 for same deal.
Although the contract is with Vodafone, the direct debit is set up to pay Carphone Warehouse.

Question is why am I paying Carphone Warehouse and not Vodafone through the DD.

You're not. You've signed up for the direct debit to go out to Vodafone.

This may be for insurance - cancel it!

The direct debit could be for several things - a carphone warehouse O2 account, a talktalk account or insurance.

You would probably be best giving them a call/ going in to store and they should be able to advise you what it is for.

Didn't take the insurance, only the contract amount.
I now have found that it's not quite the deal I thought it was - expected unlimited internet access (same as the more expensive Vodafone deal). Looks like this deal is the same as the Vodafone £15 sim only deal with the phone included.
I have seem some horror stories of people trying to return/ cancel contracts with Carphone Warehouse.
From their website it appears you phone advising that you want to cancel, and they tell you to write to them.
Can anyone advise exactly what the procedure is, and if Carphone Warehouse will try to stall or prove awkward.
    Thanks

This link explains what you need to do.

    http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/support/orders-deliveries-returns/returns-returnproduct

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page you will see that you dont need to call them as it states:

"**Or you can go ahead and write before calling to tell us you want to return your product (address below). You must still write to us within 14 calendar days from the day you received your product if you want to return it (the 14 calendar days starts from the day we tried to deliver your product, even if you weren’t home at the time). You can enclose the product but if you don’t, you must return it to us within seven calendar days after you told us that you wanted to return the product.

Out of curiosity, I think recently CPW made a deal with Vodafone.....so could be the contract with vodafone is similar to O2?????
I am a CPW o2 customer and my dd is with CPW rather than with o2..so i am suspecting CPW may have a similar contract with vodafone...

Thanks I missed the ** reference - even when I read it again.
Has anyone made a return under "changed my mind". Did you get any hassle? Forewarned is forearmed.

    Thanks,

If your dd is with cpw instead of O2 it's becuase you're on a leftover "upgrade" deal with them. Unless things have changed new contracts are direct with the provider. I could be wrong with regard to Vodafone contracts, but would be a little surprised if they have their own sub-organisation for them as they used to for O2.
