Hi All,
I am trying to sort ou our finances (arn't we all?!)
Anyhow will cut to the chase... I am trying to make an excel spread sheet similar to that of a bank statement so I can work out how much were spending and keep a track of things.
My question is would I do the sums? as it doesnt seem to want to let me subtract anything in a sum! Is there a template or this? please help..
I wanted something like this
Date Details Withdrawn Paid in Balance
01.01.09 Money £10.00 £100.00 £90.00
02.01.09 Money £10.00 £0.00 £80.00
How would I get it to do those sums automaticaally so its just a case o me typing whats gone in and out?
Thanks in advance.....

OK...
Say you have £100 in A1 and £10 in A2, and you want the result of adding them together to show in A3. In A3 enter:
=A1+A2
and press enter.
That should get you started.
Oh, hang on, what you pasted shows:
01.01.09 Money £10.00 £100.00 £90.00
Is that all in one cell? You need to show the different information in different cells. (So the date in column A, the description in column B, etc.)0 -
Is this any good , just whipped it up?

When you need more just highlight the last five boxs , so one that one it would be " 8/1/2009 | Money | £10.00 | £10.00 | £70.00 " and there should be a little black square in the bottom right hand corner of the blue highlight cells , when you hover over it , your cursor will become a little plus signm hold and drag that black box down the page to as far as neededPeter: Hey Lois... what's this word? Hi John,
Ihave put all info in different cells and have worked out how to add ie
=sum(A1+A2) however what I wanted to do was similar to that of a bank balance.
The sum I was trying to do was =SUM(E4+C5-D5) it adds the e4 and c5 but then also adds d5 and I wanted it to subtract d5. If I'm making any sense at all? So i can work out monies going in and out.
Any ideas much appreciated.Claimed £1780.33 from Halifax Credit card unfair charges !!:beer:Claimed:£164.00,£306.00,£236.00,£1593.51!!£2473.88!!£164.00,586.00,753.00 from Natwest PPI0 -

I would just use the formula =E4+C5-D5
If you want to use SUM, try =SUM((E4+C5)-D5)I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.
