"FREE" Ipod deals - which is best?

I want to get my mum an Ipod and a phone contract and need to know which of the 'free' ipod deals are the best?- I have seen a Nokia 1680 at 15/pm over 18 months, free phone free 16GB Ipod touch.
Is this a good deal?
Would I be able to upgrade my contract features if I wanted to put SIM in blackberry pearl?
