Well, it was dropping out of sight until you dragged it up again.
People like you are the reason this country has gone to pot.

A shop assistant makes a genuine mistake, nobody bats an eyelid when the beep beep goes off in a store.
I certainly don't think the person looking sheepish showing the receipt to the security guard is a thief.
Yet you get £25 for throwing your toys out of the pram and acting like a spoiled child.
Most NORMAL people wouldn't have even gave this a second thought as it happens so often, yet you write to head office.
Sheeshh, My island in the middle of nowhere with only a goat for company can't come soon enough to get away from people like you.

Ummm, they wrote to head office because someone on here told them too. So find who that person was and have a rant at them too!:rotfl:

A very dated view...A "genuine mistake" doesn't exist these days...there's only "negligence" and "liability".

The words - Bridge, Told & Jump spring to mind.
If I wrote to head office everytime my bag beeped when I left - I would be a gift voucher millionaire by now (probably) :D

That could hardly be a bad thing could it? Although if everyone did it, there would probably be no shops left to spend the vouchers in!:D

Again, apologies as I know this isn't as serious as other threads - but if anyone has any thoughts or advice on if I should take this further I would much appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance.

I bought a load of cake decorating things for a friends birthday; chocolate, icing, sprinkles just that kind of thing from ASDA and for some reason the alarms went off with big flashing lights but no one send anything - and it's not as if I darted out the doors, I spent nearly two minutes standing stationary going very slowly down the travelator before I was outside. :p

    Lol i've noticed that :D

In the last 12 months or so I've noticed more supermarkets installing "Security Consoles" with manned staff instead of the classic Debenhams man in black jumper and shiny black hat looking stern :rotfl:

    Hi all

Apologies if this isn't as important as some of the other threads on here, but i'd like some advice all the same if that's ok...?

I recently bought some clothes from a well-known high street store, paid and left. HOWEVER, dippy assistant hadn't removed a security tag leaving the alarms to go off, security to come after me etc. People in the crowded street (near where my work is based and potential clients could have seen) were all doing that "gawping" thing as we all do... Basically, I was mortified.

Security and manager looked through my bag, accepted it was a mistake and gave a half-hearted apology and basically said this happens all the time! I was seriously embarrassed and angry. In my opinion the assistant wasn't doing her job properly by leaving the security tag on, leading to potential damage to my reputation if anyone passing thought I was a shoplifter!

Again, apologies as I know this isn't as serious as other threads - but if anyone has any thoughts or advice on if I should take this further I would much appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance.

I think that too many people do not think that this type of a mistake is a big deal. I believe that if the staff did their job properly then it would not happen. the times i hear alarms go off all day long because staff cant be bothered to detag the items.
    Its just a joke.

People should be able to sue them for emotional upset or the distress that it caused them. The American,s would sue anyone for anything. I would have kicked up a stink

Well, as you've dragged up a thread that's been dormant for 10 months, maybe the OP could update us if she DID sue 'for emotional upset or distress' and how the court viewed her claim.....
