Shoplifting - or not....??

You can always tell when it's a genuine mistake because the person involved will at first look really confused and shocked, and then look embarassed and look at their bags, as opposed to making a run for it with an armful of stuff :P I very much doubt anyone thought you were nicking stuffD'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't importantTaste The Rainbow :heartsmil0

Was it really necessary for both of them to look through your bags,I presume you gave your permission (that old argument again)?.Which store was it? I do remember getting very !!!!ed off when someone in Tesco left tags on some clothes I had bought, and it took them four attempts to find them all,I set the alarms off each time! The bells!!0

Ok - fair enough - I'm obviously stupid and will go away, hang head in shame and never post on here again.
I think that's a tad over the top, to be honest.
You asked for people's opinions.
You got them.
Ok, maybe some were a bit on the harsh side but I do agree with the basic gist of the replies.
It was an accident, people DO make errors - luckily in this instance the worst that happened was that you were embarrassed (I can't understand your 'anger' tbh), it wasn't a life-threatening error. I think your comment about "leading to potential damage to my reputation if anyone passing thought I was a shoplifter!" is way over the top for what actually happened.
It's happened to me before, I know I've not done anything wrong so I just open my bag and let the assistant sort the problem out.
I wouldn't throw your dummy out of the pram and not post on here again because of the preceived flak you've received - but that's your prerogative.0 -

Thanks all!
Anything's allowed unless the mods delete it.
So you were joking about being "seriously embarrassed and angry"?
And joking about being worried about the "potential damage" to your reputation if anyone passing thought you were a shoplifter?0 -

My local TK Maxx is horrendous at taking tags off, and every time I go in there, the alarm must go off every 5 minutes!
Tis always best to walk straight back inside if the alarms go off so people on the street don't gawp!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

I just keep walking...I know I've paid...so why should I go back? There is always others leaving at the time. Never been stopped but I would not have a problem if I was.0 -

Depends on the circumstance. If it goes off and you hadn't bought anything from there, I'd certainly not bother stopping. And if it's a stray security tag left on whether gordikin considers it more hassle to remove it themselves later or go back to the till to sort it that's up to them. But it may be they're not specifically referring to TK Maxx's security system. Many places/products don't have security tags to remove but use other RFID tags that are "deregistered" at the till. Makes no difference to the product when you get home."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
