O2 sim in a Tesco Motorola V3?

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to use an O2 PAYG sim in a Motorola V3 bought from Tesco? Not sure if the phone will be locked to the Tesco network or if it will work ok as I believe Tesco runs on the O2 network.

Any help will be much appreciated. :o

Tesco certainly use the O2 network.

A Tesco sim certainly works in my aunt's locked O2 mobile.
  • no the newer v3s on tesco are locked only to tesco despite running from the o2 network unfortunatley

tesco have there own mcc/mcn 23400003
    o2 use 23410000
which is why it needs unlocking
they used to share the same mcc/mcn but not anymore

    Hi Drahcir,

I think we are at cross purposes here. You are quite correct about the MCC/MCN allocations and the need for unlocking. I was just pointing out to the thread that this is still carried by the O2 infrastructure and therefore all aspects such as signal strength and coverage will be the same as an O2 account.
