Deffo my Leggings-and-T-shirt period, thinking that this ghastly outfit made me look slimmer and "smart-casual". I was in cloud-cuckoo-land!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

This thread reads like a stock check in Topshop!

    My worst:

Polka dot leggings with a huuuuuuge Take That t-shirt, massive baggy skater jeans that covered my shoes entirely (and I'm a size 8) worn with a skin tight purple glittery corset and purple hair flower, Spice Girls platform trainers, chains hanging from combats, hair mascara, polyester knits, overkill on neck scarves (once wore 3 at the same time!), kaftans in winter, skin tight acid wash drainpipes with Converse, jeans with embroidery, felt and tassles... the list goes on and on and on!

Oh yes! During my 'kids at primary school' years in the 90's, my friend and I had a uniform of 'smart but casual, think we look slimmer' stirrup pants and big long jumpers from the Sweater Shop. (Whatever happened to that??)
  • I remember those stripey Sweather Shop jumpers and do you remember "Dash"?

I saw some Dash stuff in a chazza shop the other day!
A friend used to live in it at the time and I used to think how 'put together' she always looked!
This sort of thing, with matching bottoms:

I was looking back on some photos with my daughter and was cringing inside at what I used to wear (and my terrible hairstyles). Beige coloured leggings with baggy tshirt, horrible knitted jumpers (my mum had a knitting machine ) Big baggy polo rugby jumpers, mens waistcoats over tshirts, oh and braces on women were definitely fashionable in the eighties. Everything was basically very baggy, comfy and a bit manly for me in the eighties ughh awful. I was so skinny too what a waste.:o

Ah yes thats the type of thing I used to wear. I used to think Dash was the height of sophistication. (sorry had to delete your link from quote - they don't trust me yet)

I had a Gazza 'tears of a clown' tshirt, a purple paisley silk shirt, a reversable Jumper (one side had a dog, the reverse had lots of little dogs), a knitted batwing jumper, lots of cullottes, and lots of leggings!
    £100 - £10,000

Paisley was very fashionable in the eighties. I had some paisley leggings! Me and my sister used to wear our jumpers back to front so we had the V at the back, and i remember our mum saying we looked silly and not taking a blind bit of notice of her. We also used to ruin perfectly good jeans by splashing bleach down one leg. My poor mum.

those global hypercolour things - I had a pair of leggings made out of that!!! Leggings in general really - I had a bright pink pair and a flowery pair from topshop (usually worn with a cream jumper with a cut out mesh pattern at the bottom)
