16-year-olds are not usually entitled to ANY Benefits.
However, she may be entitled to something as she is pregnant; I do not know for sure but someone will be a long later to advise.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

Income Support and JSA can both be paid to 16 year olds.
Is she in full-time education?0 -
As above Income Support and JSA, she should also be entitled to a SUre Start Maternity Grant if she is on qualifying benefits. This should go towards helping to pay for someone essentials for the baby.0

I know a girl well who is 16 and has a baby. She doesnt work, she hasnt been to school for years. she has no idea who the father is and so cannot claim paternal maintenance, HOWEVER..... much to my shock and amazement, she claims IS, CTC and Child Benefit. She got £150(??I think) before baby was born and £500 after baby was born. She is currently living at home and gets, now dont quote me on this but it its pretty close to £120 a week. She is also on priority for housing and will then have no rent or council tax to pay.
Baby has more clothes and latest toys that all mine had put together and she buys expensive baby items at a minutes notice, no need to save.May £10 a day challenge£19.61/£310Ebay challenge...£12.61/£2000 -
I know a girl on IS and she's bragging about her latest designer handbag and matching shoes on Facebook! Her DD is dressed beautifully to the nines.
Makes me want to laugh sometimes!Be happy, it's the greatest wealth

makes me want to scream! I work so hard in a crappy job and have to be away from my DS 3 days a week . My partner runs himself ragged in a well paid job and we do all the money saving tips, I cook from scratch most nights spending a tenner a week at the local market and barely make enough to cover the bills. we rent privately £450 a month.no housing benefit nothing. to know that stupid girls barely out of school who can't keep their legs shut will get everything paid for them. Disgusting.0 -
Silly question time, sorry. What do these abreviations mean - DD, DS, DH, and so on?
OP, normally if a person receives child benefit for the 16 year old they would not be able to claim in their own right.0
