My husband recently paid to buy an EPOS product from a company he found online. They told us we had to pay into their account and we did pay into Natwest. The product never arrived. We have chased and chased. They said it was coming from a manufacturer in the US. At one stage, they said they would replace the product with a laptop as we just did not want to lose our money and each month, they would give one excuse after the other. It is now almost 8 months since the first payment. I called the police and we were told it is not a police matter. Trading standards said we should write them. We went to the physical address and found no one there and someone who owned a nearby office said they dont know what they do. Now they do not even pick our calls or sometimes just send us standard emails. We sent a letter by recorded delivery and all they did was send us a standard email again.
Is there anything we can do to alert others. I found the regitration information on Go daddy and found another address of the owner of the site but what can I do with that information. Please help. £450 odd is too much to lose at this crucial time.
Thank you.

First of all, online shops NEVER ask you to pay for online goods by bank transfer, very dodgy. Too late now, but remember that. Remember credit card provide a fair degree of fraud protection, as do Visa Debit Cards, no so sure about Maestro and Solo debit cards, but I think do provide some protection.

Anyway, as I seem to be saying a lot tonight, speak the to the CAB. As for the police, utter BS. It is their issue and you should threaten to complain to the police complaints authority if they do not investigate.

Thanks both. Please see my editing. Indeed we have been had, but what can we do to remedy the situation. Thanks for advice about the police. I have spent the night researching them and ithey seem to have been around for a long time. I also have the name of the CEO so maybe the police will listen now.
Please see the extra information I found, which I have now included in my main post.

Take them to court for breach of contract.

Go to your local County Court and make a claim against them, print off all letters and e-mails you have sent to show your attempts to resolve this matter so you can present these to the court.

Then send them a letter and e-mail notifyng them that you are taking them to court to recover your loss. If they fail to respond or file a defence then you are likely to win and you can then legally pursue them for your losses and court costs.

If they fail to repay your money after being awarded in court, you can then legally employ bailiffs to recover the amount owed.

Call Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06 and report the company and give them as much information as possible, hopefully they will take up your case and start some action on this for you.

    Dear All,
I am so grateful for the advice. I will start acting and will report back if I get any where. It is interesting that there are already two CCJs. I too found the Director's details and wondered if I should write him a letter by recorded delivery. But he is fond of suing people. They now have a link for a law company on their site and interestingly prettending to be based in london is registered in portugal!
  • With regret, Primemark Consumer Products Limited ceased trading on 4th August 2009. The Company deeply regrets this decision which affects its online store that has been running successfully for 7 years since 2002, but this has been forced by the current economic climate and sudden bank constraints. We apologise to all our customers and associates for any inconvenience that may be caused as a result. We are not accepting new orders at the present time. Existing customers with any outstanding orders, warranty repairs or pending cancellation / refund requests will be contacted within the next few days by email and post . The Company's accounts office in London and the Hertfordshire warehouse and call centre premises are closed but, should you require, you may contact us either by using the Email form below or by writing by post to the registered office addressbelow. The 0870 number is discontinued, and an advisory announcement appears on our FreeFone 0800 lines. This announcement is related to the Primemark online store for business equipment and consumables only, as operated by Primemark Consumer Products Limited. The internet services, SMS and wholesale trade businesses are not affected. We would like to thank our many thousands of customers for their valued custom and support over the years, as well as our staff and associates who, particularly since the credit crunch hit in October 2008, have worked tirelessly and who are now naturally disappointed. A further announcement regarding the business will be made in the next few days. Please check back on this page for a further update shortly.

And finally reports have been released the one and only ''PRIMEMARK' online stores which scammed thousands of customers over 2 decades after creating multiple similar identical company name and specialised in liquidation is been taken to courts by its former employee for not paying wages and unlawfull tax deduction.

All the very best to all the other customers who are awaiting refunds

p.s - Martin, kindly requesting you a suggestion.
If you could please advise in this case:
Can multiple customers join a group and represent one solicitor and take PRIMEMARK - Mr.Asif Laher to courts and if they can do that what would be the outcome
  • We purchased an EPOS system from PRIMEMARK on 1st May 2009, which we did not recieve despite chasing them for about 3 months. In the end we asked for a refund - which did not materialise either.

We were told by the assistant that we could not spk to the manager because he does not spk to customers!!

The system cost us approximately £600 so we were keen to at least recover some money so went to Consumer Advice/trading standards who went through the procedure threatening court action etc.

We had one email saying they would process our refund and didnt hear anything further.

We have since entered a CCJ, however, they are unable to issue it to them because 'addressee has gone away'! What can we do now?

We purchased the system via business visa debit card as they seemed like a genuine company with a carefully designed website etc.

How can these scammers get away with what they're doing?

Surely, it would amount to Criminal behaviour as the intention is to deprive customers of their money with no intention of ever supplying the goods.

We have taken it to Court for Breach of Contract but if they cannot find these muppets at their registered address what next?

    Any ideas?
