Hello Everyone!
My, it has been a long time since I last posted and I apologise, work has been hectic so getting a chance to sit down and actually write something has been challenging to say the least!
So let me explain the ups and downs:
ups:
My barclaycard since at bang on 1k now, once they take another payment that will be less than 1k :T:T
My Egg card now sits at 3399 - with payments still to go in!
Am getting back 385 from the deposit of my old flatand for the first time ever I think with a lucky windfall I have gone "EXCELLENT! That will push me to nearly less than 4k in debt WOOHOO!" - its a weird feeling!
Virgin credit card now sits in credit for 25 quid! Going to ask them today to give that back!
I am sitting at something like 18+ in my little pennybank for my camping holiday next year!! So want to rip the lid off and count it all but I am a good girl...
Plenty of overtime! Work is sending me away for 4 days which means no gas, no electric, no food to spend at home!! woohoo! Sounds daft but that is easily 40+ saved...
Cooking A lot more these days - Spag bol is Sunday, Pasta bake tonight and I have my lovely OH taking me for a meal on Saturday as he is visiting - he has (although really doesn't need to) jumped on the moneysaving bandwagon as well - So we are both having a very peaceful weekend and is loving my cooking. I could do with trying more complex meals..however..
downs:
overspent this month - OH was a bit miserable so I ended up buying him a treat - however please note this "treat" cost 60 quid!! Oops...
I tried to make lasagna - Oh gawd... It went awful!! I made up the mince - stuck loads of stuff into it but I think it was too watery... then I put some cheese in it... It tastes nice but oh gawd it wasn't right - it was pasta sheets in a puddle!! Discovered I am very, very much a person who needs instructions in front of me I can follow rather than "ohhhh just stick that in!" - am too impatient!
Not started a spending diary yet (BAD RANDOM) so am going to start that monday or tomorrow... maybe best to do it while the other half it here to make me aware if I am spending more money on him or not - sounds daft but I am a sucker when it comes to him especially at the beginning of the month when I have just been paid... cause he does treat me quite often and it is rare I can treat him.
For now - best get back to work!Sealed Pot No:721 started 05/08/09 until 30/04/09 Target:£100 - £60 Banked!

Congrats on getting the debts to under 4k, :j but a little slap on the hand for not starting the spending diary yet.:pIt’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Phew right- where to start?
Went to the scottish fling on Saturday and that has inspired me once again to get my rear into SOME KIND OF GEAR PLEASE and get MSE back on track!
As such - I have listed everything that i have been "meaning to do" on ebay/amazon marketplace in the feint hope some of it sells - if it all sells like I hope it does then I am looking at an extra 40+ quid! Huzzah!
I am putting my foot down and saying no more than 1 pint of cider when going out! For some reason the minute I go past a pint the silly part of me gets in control...:mad::mad: grrrrr
Next up is to start going Hard ball on myself. As of in the next 5-15 minutes I am going through my shelf and start doing the asking of "when is the last time you picked this up?" and if it was longer than 6 months and doesn't have sentimental value...
However discovered my lovely OH has nabbed his camera back (the nerve... its like it is HIS OR SOMETHING) so could only list things with picture that I had already taken... oh dear. Once I get some spare cash - Dfd time.
I will do a NEW SOA as of January - because by then I will have a few bills paid off.
I managed to switch over the BIG card (with all but 900 of the debt) to a 1.9% card, so that has gone from 30 quid per month interest to 4.50 - so even with the fee of about 80 quid it works out cheaper after about 4 months - but need to clear it before august 2010 when it jumps to 19.9%!!!
Spending Diary - I have decided to actually buy a PROPER diary for 1st January onwards, firstly for writing down anything I plan on doing/want to do - because i fear my memory is getting forgetful... secondly it can double up as a spending diary! Something that is "back pocket" sized... so that I have no reason to leave it at home!!
No need to buy groceries for the rest of this month - so everything is "on course" so to speak. I want to clear by debts as quickly as I can so I gotta fight!!
Thanks for the Motivation MSE peeps. I WILL WIN!Sealed Pot No:721 started 05/08/09 until 30/04/09 Target:£100 - £60 Banked!

Hi Itsarandom, Have just caught up on your thread and want to wish you the best of luck. Your doing so well.
I keep meaning to do a shopping diary, i rememeber to jot down things for a day or two then forget. I blame my age. But i have to admit it does make you stop and think before you spend any thing.
Well keep up the good work. I'l follow your thread if thats ok.0 -
Please feel free to follow! Will promise to try to post more regularly than I normally have!
I have tried starting a new diary every month but end up either forgetting the book (such a routine person...) or just go "oh I won't include that because...because...".
No excuses though come january with my Diary! Going for gold! Going to crack down as much as I can. Get on the pack lunch train good and proper (rather than the "oh I will just have this because its been stressful" excuse that has been popping up more and more recently..)
I also wanted to celebrate as one of my items has already sold :j:j good start so far!Sealed Pot No:721 started 05/08/09 until 30/04/09 Target:£100 - £60 Banked!

Better write down a list of things to do actually as a reminder (and when I don't do them, people can point me at this and go "AHEMMMMM")
1) Write an SOA for January onwards
2) Get a cheap diary - xmas present??
3)Get your NSD done this month!! Go for at least three this week with cycling walking??
4) GET A DOCTORS APPOINTMENT!! At my age climbing up and down stairs should NOT hurt so badly in my left knee my OH says my face looks like I just got punch in the back!!
5) clean the flat TOP TO BOTTOM
6) Start figuring out at DFW wedding for 2011  parents and in-laws been VERY VERY generous after we asked them how much they would be able to help out pretty please... but I do not want this expensive...!Sealed Pot No:721 started 05/08/09 until 30/04/09 Target:£100 - £60 Banked!

*sneaks in*
Hello!
It was very nice to meet you on Saturday and I'm sure you will do just fine getting your bum in gear!
I should probably use a spending diary too, I might start from January too...the online one is quite good and will organise things into pie charts for you too. Last time I did a Spending Diary I used the online one and scraps of paper!0 -
Hi Itsarandom.
I have a spare pocket diary. I could pop it in the post if you PM me your address? Then you could ask for something nicer for xmas?#39 - Save £12k in 20250 -
Well you are all making me feel guilty. So i will definatly be starting a spending diary in January. I dont know why i find this so hard when i'm constantly writing everything else down. Whats the online one flying_fresian? how do i find it?
