    Hey Firefox.

I keep a loaf of bread at work and teabags as well (stopped the coffee, can't drink the asda smart price stuff whereas I am happy with asda smart price teabags!!) so I have no excuse. The only reason I had money at work at all is because I was carrying around my birthday money to put into the bank... that is now sitting in a drawer at home safe and sound!!!

Today I think I can say has been an excellent day. I can sum it up like this:

    expenditure:

6.73 - got really annoyed with my debt sitting at 96.73 so paid 6.73 off it! :D

    Total spent :: 6.73!

Lunch was my bread and marmite with a cup of tea - breakfast was some toast. So far so good eh? Gotta keep it up!! :D

Your Statement of Affairs looks good, the only thing I would say is that you should budget for the insurance, as you don't want to have a nasty surprise when it is due next year. Do you really only spend £60 a year on all birthdays and Christmas gifts? If not do budget for it on a monthly basis, even if you only mentally set the money aside. Have the credit cards been cut up now? What are the 'other assets' - can they be used for debt repayment?

I usually budget for about 60 quid for Chrimbo and Birthdays as the rest I top up with my Vouchers I get from shop&scan and other such things, those don't get counted towards debt-reducement. Me and my friends either do a secret santa every year, or we agree not to buy store things and go for home-made presents things! My parents are wonderful and so is my OH - all of us agreed not to spend more than a fiver/tenner on each other, although my parents always seem to break this rule for my birthdays.

Good point about the insurance - but hopefully going back to a monthly insurance system then. However I think I will take a tenner off food and add it to that - then by next year should have a little savings for that. Hopefully by the time I am buying insurance again though I aim to be debt-free!:rotfl:

Just got pretty annoyed with myself - ended up discovering i forgot to bring in some milk from home for my tea - although I now have enough milk for the rest of the working week - it is still .35 more than i once again planned to spend... I dream of NSD!

Next week I have to be more organised! Or just stockpile enough milk at work to last a few years!!

When is your mobile contract up for renewal? You could barter with the cancellations dept and get it down a lot more than that. Do you use all your free minutes/texts? If not maybe even give your network a ring and see if you could go on a reduced tariff or think about sim only deals ?

    Hey there!

I sadly signed an 18 month contract around December last year stupidly. But I am going to phone them up today and see if they are willing to give me a new 18 month contract but cut down my package i have, or at the very least remove the insurance on it! At least then that is another 6.95 saved each month and you can buy phones for about 40 quid these days!

Once the contract runs out I am going to get myself just a pay as you go phone instead for a few months and see how the spending goes on that.

They should cut the package after either nine months without you needing to sign a new contract. You won't get a good retention deal until you are in the last month, so just cut the package now and renegotiate then.

    Hello Again!

Right well last night was horrendously successful! I went hunting through my stuff last night and seperating out what I own and want to keep and things I haven't played in years and want to sell.

I found an old game I had and remember being excellently fun on my playstation many moons ago - but have since never played.

Well I need a quick ebay search - they are selling for 40-50 quid a pop!! :T:T:T:T:j some even are selling for up to 120!!

Although now knowing its a collector's item... I am very very tempted to hang onto it... but part of me says "GET RID OF IT!" because I haven't used it in years... tempting... something I can think about! I am sure someone else would give it another play through and love it needs rather than me...

Another game I found is selling on ebay for 21 quid as well... although the question lies now is how much of my childhood do i want to sell? hrrm.. something i seriously need to sit down and think about really.

I also found a ton of books for amazon and an old nintendo DS! :D that however is going to be saved for trading in with my xbox360 for a new one.

Its scary to think i found over 50 quids worth of stuff for five minutes worth of work and one box. How much more stuff do i have?!

i was wondering if anyone actually had any advice:

I have some old computing books now from my university days which are probably out of date with the current editions... looking on ebay and amazon suggests that they aren't really that sale-able.

Any advice on ways to sell them, or maybe just worth hanging onto them anyway?

lots of posts today... its cause I am trying to remind myself what to do today:

    1) post off inventory and clean list.
    2) post letter to friend
    3) make a proper budget that I can stick to the fridge for groceries (any advice on this one?)
    4) start getting my phone sorted with my laptop to take photos to post on ebay!
    5) sort out books for amazon!
    6) finish cleaning old flat for handover tomorrow :D

    Hi random

I like what you did with the £6.73. I recently got my CC down to £1000.00 and the roundness of that pleased me more than my most recent dent, bringing it to some odd number near £900! :)

No idea about computer books, but I have A-level textbooks (as in not AS, A2) and I don't know what to do with them, so hoping someone has an answer!

If I were you I'd sell the games. Sell sell sell. But then my Father is a hoarder and I fear turning into him so I'm ruthless.

Grocery budget - what sort of diet do you follow? It helps to know if you eat meat, fish, have any allergies, avoid carbs blah blah. Have you had a look over on the old-style board? There's loads there about food, and they are well practised. Some of them can eat for £5 a week. Healthily! Other advice on point 3, don't use superglue!

Does your OH have a camera? It might be simpler to borrow that for a week than fight your phone/ computer connection? At least it would get you going with eBay straight away...

So impressed by the quitting smoking, I did it once, it was an unpleasant day. (17 hours!)

    Bex :)
Do you need it? Yep. Really? Yes! How have you managed for the last 28 years without it? Erm....
    NO NAUGHTY SHOPPING Bex.
