In a wee site somewhere near Leicester... no idea why near leicester but supposedly there are some great sights nearby to see - if nothing else I can have a quick wonder around LeicesterSealed Pot No:721 started 05/08/09 until 30/04/09 Target:£100 - £60 Banked!

Bad random...
I just could not face having to have porridge for lunch, again. So I spent 1.30 at the bistro on soup and roll... However I used my bistro acct (comes straight of your wage, rather than needing cash) so that i still have the cash if needed...
However when I get home tonight I will put the 1.30 into my little change pot, so that it still counts...
Lunch: 1.30
Left: 7.29
Total spent: 2.72 (will double check this...)
Total gained: 0.01
Solution tonight: Make up a bumper batch of Tuna mayo pasta so I can take a tub of it in tomorrow for lunch!Sealed Pot No:721 started 05/08/09 until 30/04/09 Target:£100 - £60 Banked!

Figures are correct - a mere 7.29 is remaining... sadness.
Walked home again - in the wind and rain... oh so cold and have learned that if this bad tomorrow I need to think about some kind of coat, or some kind of extra think hoodie!! brrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Walking home I felt pretty miserable I'll be honest. Sure I had a home-cooked meal to look forward to, but the walking has been wearing me down quite a lot. There is certainly two types of walking:
1) When you have to - regardless of weather, feelings or anything. This kind of walking I do not enjoy... I don't anyone does.
2) When you want to - regardless of weather or anything you just want to go for a nice walk somewhere pretty and see the excellent sites/views - I enjoy that kind of walking.
This week it has been filled with "have to" so far - and its only day 3! How whiny will I be on Friday??? (well Friday I have the day off to do the last of my packing and prep for going down south so I don't have to walk)
However, something amazing has happened. I have my new debit card :T:T:T:T:T:T
So no matter what - nothing can stop this weekend being enjoyable! Its one less worry, one less weight on my shoulders and I didn't actually realise how heavy it was until it has come off.
However: I still have 7.29 to keep me going until next Friday... at the moment I have discovered I have enough leftovers in general (frozen chilli - the last portion! It was too tempting that I ate some tonight) I have some noodles that have been lurking in the cupboard and a ton of pasta and rice. I also have some bacon in the freezer.. wondering if I can do something with that? If nothing else I can take it with me and it can be breakfast
No much else really. My worries, at least for now have disappeared but I am going to push to see if I can make this 7 quid last me, although if I end up having to withdraw a few quid for the weekend I will forgive myself and no doubt we will probably stop for something while heading down south... Maybe leave the money at home and use it for next Mon onwards?Sealed Pot No:721 started 05/08/09 until 30/04/09 Target:£100 - £60 Banked!

When there is nothing whatsoever left to eat in the house (!) you could always go to the supermarket with your £7.29 at about 7-8pm just before they shut and grab a load of yellow stickered stuff. Any meat or bread, chuck it straight in the freezer til you want to use it. I've saved loads this way, can't remember the last time I paid full price for bread or chicken:rotfl:
If there's a Morrissons near yours, they have loads of veg on offer at the mo, 30p a bag - check this thread out

I hate to say it - but today I hit my limit.
I wake up, shower, get dressed and am out the door (5 minutes later than I am happy with... but still out the door in time to walk) and I am met with rain. Not just a drizzle, walked in that yesterday, but full on proper Rain. The kind that soaks you through after walking for 5 minutes (as I discovered).
I looked at my pile of change - I realised there was still 1.75 miles to walk. I also knew there was a bus in about 5 minutes at the bus stop I had reached that would take me to just outside work and on the reasoning I also needed to check if my debit card worked... I hopped on the bus and felt guilty but justified.
However - I get kudos points because my mind started down the route of "while you already spent 1.40 - what is another 85 pence on a tasty hot breakfast? Or 3.50 on lunch at work?? Nom Nom Nom!" and quickly shut that thought process down and have had my cereal for brekkie!
The nearest Morrisons to me... Well I am not sure really - but certainly not within my normal travelling distance. Will do some research to see if there is one nearby!
However I also got paid today! So my first action of the day? Pay off some debt!!

It all went a bit pair-shaped at the weekend. The 7.29 has also disappeared...
You think I had the hang of this... obviously not.

I got ten minutes - better make this a quick post!
so the weekend didn't go as money-saving as I hoped the minute we stepped into the first bar and I thought "oh what is one pint?" followed by everyone wanting to stop at <insert fast food chain here> and even ordering a coffee, I felt robbed
Overall I think I overspent by 30 quid. But it was a good time I had, I just feel a bit *slap wrist* for the money I spent. So my 7.29 disappeared.
Then it went FURTHER wrong on Monday - obviously I didn't sleep enough while away and didn't sleep enough on Sunday night - as I woke up, made my way to the train station (slept in massively!) to catch train to realise I didn't take a penny with me, or my bank card or even my wallet!!! So I had to dash back home, grab all these things - missed the train so ended up having to take a taxi!!!:eek::(:( so that was another fiver down the drain - ended up having a MISERABLE day (tired, plus work issues = not fun) so instead ended up buying a few comfort items at asda on the way home.
However I am trying something a bit bold for me this month. I am not doing my usual big shop. I am instead, attempting to only keep myself going with little shops. Sounds daft but hear me out! I don't need anything this month and have enough food at home (in theory!) to keep me going until the end of the month... if I can cut my shop down to even half of what it usually is - am saving a fortune! Will see how I go - obviously my "having a carp day, need comfort stuffs" counts... doh.
I have also realised that any hope of that 7.29 lasting me this week was beggar's belief! I had a concert last night, and my guitar lesson today! I am kinda proud to say I didn't spend anything extra at the conert - no silly merchandise, no drinks bought or anything. So the concert was only the travelling cost and dinner - dinner came to 7.75, which could have been avoided I admit but that comes out of my entertainment money.
Walking more regularly these days. The only days I won't be walking really is probably days I am going into town afterwards - because I can only carry one set of clothes and either it is my "travelling" clothes (things I wear because I don't care about them and can get dragged through whatever!) or what I want to wear when I go into town (non-travelling clothes) so will be keeping tabs - walked home on Monday, Walked There + back on Tuesday, went into for the concert yesterday and slept in this morning (didn't get home from concert until midnight!) - with the plan to walk out - tempted to get transport out for the simple reason that I have my guitar lesson but its easier just to walk really, no rushing then to catch the train!
Speaking of guitar lessons - I had to spent a tenner today getting a lead for my guitar - nuts. Was required and will be used heavily and reminds me to text my guitar teacher and beg him to bring a spare. Will go grab my phone shortly.
As an aside, I fear I am going mad. I have this great urge to attempt to run a 5K. No idea why. But I think its the challenge. The idea of being able to run 5K and not stop appeals to me... and I think if i said I was doing it for charity it wouldn't be frowned upon...
I am also thinking of getting married at edinburgh zoo - but that is just a random thought
