I sincerely hope that he gets his condition and pain under control - so is able to do something he also enjoys doing.

I wish you both well :)
    Thank you Gary

Unfortunately he is on Warfarin so there is little medication he can take for the pain:(

Dont worry Mrs A, there is no new scam to get people off IB, the medical should be rearranged without any problem as most are.

Thank you for the reassurance healy:A

Not yet, just the (in my personal opinion, and that of many others) existing scam of using LIMA/ATOS to conduct the medicals.

However, there is the new (again in my personal opinion. and that of many others) scam called ESA, which all existing incapacity benefit claimaints will be migrated to over the next few years. That test appears to be failing many people, and time will tell if large numbers suddenly fail, who were entitled to IB for years.

I strongly suspect that will happen, after all, its the goverment target toget 1 million of IB, and the new test is already failing 9 out 10 people in some areas.
[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

ESA, so far, is proving to be extremely sucessful at helping people off benefits.

Its a shame that IB wrote people off for years.

LIMA does not seem to have had a great deal of impact over the last few years since it was introduced.

Yes I know about ESA and alot of people will fail especially those with the more common mental health problems, it was designed to fail these people and was changed after a trial did not fail enough people.

When i went for my ESA Medical a few weeks ago we had a phone call on my house phone and mobile from them too! but only found out after we got back! - still dont know why they rang, they just said on the message they were trying to get in touch before we left - they never mentioned it when we got there! - strange!

Hear! hear! same sort of thing happened to me, have been on IB since 2003 when I was forced to leave a well paid job that I loved due to ill health, I was on the long term sickness rate, and regularly had medicals which i received enough points to receive the benefit, then in June 2008 I was called in for an ATOS medical, and several weeks later I received the report, and what a load of b***ocks it was ! Completely misquoted me,and in some parts just blatantly lied! I could not believe it, anyway, to cut a long story short, i appealed, and here we are over a year later, and I'm still waiting for my tribunal hearing (by the time I go, I will have been without a single penny for 1 year 2 months exactly) I too can't claim anything else, as I have a husband who is in full time employment.

This has caused us so much stress and financial difficulty over the past 14 months, and its so unfair, if I could walk into an office/shop/ whatever and get a job I would, but because of what is wrong with me, nobody would take me on, and I wouldn't be able to cope anyway, so thats my story, turfed off a benefit I relied on, and left to cope on my own.

ATOS - thats a good name for them, cause thats how much they care "a toss"

by the way, I put in the appeal the same day as i was turned down, so there is no reason why it should take this long for a hearing
