I'd buy one, only so I can say "I own a Mac"... then I'd shove Windows on there. :p

What a waste of a machine if you did!
Once you played around with Mac OS X you would hate going back to Windows. It's much better. Nothing but problems with Windows Vista.

Oh I agree. Vista is nasty, it's an abomination to the computing world. I would like to change to OS X just so I can try something different. I'm extremely bored of XP.

I left Windows for two years for my MacBook and loved it; I even manged to set-up a duel boot with linux. But it was getting old and I needed a new laptop. I didn't want to pay for a new MacBook because they're too expensive and there are better things to spend money on. Anyway, I got this HP laptop with WinVista! What point was I going to make. Oh yeah, if you have a monitor kicking around (keyboard + mouse too) why not consider the Mac Mini? By the way, the monitor connection should not be VGA as the Mac Mini doesn't use that port.

EDIT: MacBooks are good a retaining their worth as I sold my two-year old MacBook for £250.

I have looked into the Mac Mini but I don't know. I think I'd prefer a MacBook to be honest.

It's a shame they are so expensive. They'd be just as popular as PC's if they were more affordable.

I wouldn't go for the Mini because I need a laptop, and like I said I think it's too expensive. I have had my fun with the Macs and would rather save or spend elsewhere. For example, my laptop is worth £350 and I bought it for £250 - added another 2GB of RAM (quite cheaply) and it's better than the £350 sale model (worth £450); that model has a slower CPU and 1GB less RAM but has VistaPrem not Basic; however, I don't care for the extra features on offer in VistaPrem.

    Apple laptops are sexy.

Nah, they're always a bit tacky, I find. Even worse, it's form over function to a ridiculous degree.

As for the resale value, that's nice, until you come to buy another one. Then you instantly lose all the money you 'saved'.

They feel well built to me. 'Normal' laptops (e.g. HP, Dell, Acer, etc.) feels 'tachy'. I haven't made a point of feeling laptops for their 'tachyness' but that's the impression I get. Macs are an investment too. Their hardware works very well and software is excellent too. The only hardware I had was from a Seagate HDD. I won't bother listing faults with Vista because I will be here all night!

See, I prefer the look and feel of Macs compared to PC. Macs are unique.

Correction Karl, you'll be here until the next decade listing Vista's faults. :p

True. Before anyone jumps in; I am not saying MacOS X is bug-free, but there isn't much hope when MS admits Vista is, well, rubbish. Maybe they want us to upgrade to Win7 (no thanks).

I decided to install Windows 7 RC not too long ago. I reverted back to XP within 10 minutes.

I'm not saying it's bad, I cannot make that judgement without actually giving it a try but it sure is hell bulky. Bulkier than Vista. It's too bloated. I'd rather install Windows 3.11 and use that.
