Stag do in Amsterdam

The red light area is safe on the surface, just use your common sense and look after each other, and dont take any photos of the working girls, I saw an American tourists DSLR go into the canal closely followed by the tourist for doing that.
Really dont bother doing the Anne Frank museum, you will wait for an age, and you feel like you are filing through like a procession, there is hardly any furniture, so you dont really get a feel for whats happened there, to be honest the visit just left me cold, and I had wanted to visit ever since reading the book.0 -
just don't get a taxi from the airport to the hotel - only place i've ever paid more than in london!0

Some hotels within a maximum 5 minute walk of centraal station. Just a skip from the RLD. I go two or three times a year and have done for the last ten years or so.
The Terminus is asking crazy money when booking early now but if they have rooms left then you could change your booking late if you have used easytobook.com and checked the cancellation policy, do this carefully though.

Thank you everyone for your replies up to now! We do expect the beer to be expensive so obviously why we're trying to get flights and hotel as cheap as. I'd really like to go there especially as I've never been so will have a good look for deals and may well ask more questions....!0

Try skyscanners which looks at lots of airlines.
To get the best prices try flying on a Saturday and returning on the monday or tuesday (The airlines charge top dollar if you fly on Friday morning and return on Sunday)0 -
Golden Virginia is about £5.50 for 50grams which is well under half the price we pay here so its worth bringing some back0

I would also suggest Gdansk which has great scenery and very cheap (and good) beer. Sopot close to Gdansk (reached by train in a few minutes) is a beach resort with lots of night life. When I was there last time beer was between 80 cents to €1.50 per pint (ok, 500 ml..). Food was also cheap.Flying pig is worth a look if you all don't mind slumming it for digs!

The Ibis is a bit more expensive but is still a budget hotel

Amsterdam would be reasonable for a stag do but it certainly isn't cheap. Spring time is the best time to visit.
Prague must be worth a shout or Riga with all the low cost airlines and the low cost of beers.
As for stag activities you will find them in any of the east European cities.
Bratislava is also an interesting place to visit, much smaller than Prague, but also not so much to see. Still has night clubs and stag parties. High quality beer (Staropramen and the Golden Pheasant (Zlatny something)) for €1.30 in October 2008..0 -
I have stayed at both The Kap Hotel & The hostel at Vondelpaark.
The Kap is small and very friendly. Great breakfasts.
Although slightly out of the centre it within walking distance of the Heineken Museum and easy access for tram into the centre

The hostel at Vondel Park do large rooms for groups and is also very clean and friendly.
Has an on site bar with not too bad prices

Those things are available everywhere, OK in Amsterdam prostitution (I assume that is what you meant) is legal and hash is tolerated, that is the difference.
Why would you go to a city and not even spend a short time doing or seeing something that is unique to that city.0
