If you don't have a sound card then the audio will be integrated onto the motherboard. Just plug them into the power outlet and the audio out jack and they should work, you don't need drivers for them.No free lunch, and no free laptop

thamks macman , Sorry i should have explained in more detail earlier, but i have plugged them in to the power outlet and the audio outlet jack.
-I then do not get a text stating that new hardware is found
- i then try and install new hardware as it prompts me and then
- it states new hardware cannot be found and a message sending me to windows.
so any more help i would be grateful for please?Ebay Bag A Day Challenge 2012- :staradmin

And check your settings in the Audio Control panel. They may have been muted or turned down there.
If you turn them on (usually a little light comes on on the master speaker) and the volume right up, do you get a buzzing noise indicating that the speakers are powered up?No free lunch, and no free laptop

note about onboard sound, on the back of the pc there are 3 usually color coded 3.5mm sockets, Green is for speakers. Pink is MIC, the other i believe is blue for AUX,
You dont need to add hardware when connecting speakers to the soundcard, that will only appear when you are adding a new, graphics card, sound card, pci card, or connecting up some usb hardware like a mp3 player, printer.
You will not see the hardware wizard if you change your monitor either.
Sound and Audio device, check the volume control and make sure everthing it set to high.
you should have 5 tabs
check Volume at the top will show the driver exampkle :Realtek AC97 Audio, device volume move the pointer to the right, remove the tick in MUTE.
You should hear sound if all your doing is replacing the speakers you had before.0 -
What are the 2 components where you have a yellow question mark?
Right click on them/Properties and you will be presented with a tab giving you a number of options, including enabling/disabling the device and reinstalling the drivers.
Seems like your audio drivers may be corrupted and need reinstalling.
What is the make and model of your PC?No free lunch, and no free laptop

My origianl desktop has suffered a bad virus {or so im told) .So i have purchased this desktop which is second hand as i was in a rush to get back onto the internet. so i cannot really give you the name etc , but it does state foxconn motherboard?
Therefore i have not had speakers on this system before. But i have just realised the sheet with the spec on says "sound card with headphones jack at the front" I dont know if this makes a difference?
Anyway i get the buzzing noise on either green socket i place the lead into .And power light.- When i go on Sounds , speech and audio devices tab No matter what i click on nothing is high lighted so i cannot change the volume control ..etc?
- When i go onto Device manager under "Other devices" i get yellow question marks against Multimedia Audio controller and USB Device

Try running Windows Update, and look in the optional updates section for a sound driver.0

Download My Drivers. It should identify your hardware and install the missing drivers.
Once everything works ok, you can back up all your drivers and save them as an executable file.Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0
