Orange World Data Bundles?

Hey,

Looking to get a SIM-free HTC Hero and using it with my current Orange contract SIM (£9 a month, 200 mins, unlimited txts). Having looked at the bundles for Orange world according to http://www1.orange.co.uk/entertainment/OrangeWorld/OrangeWorldCosts.php I should be able to add the monthly £7.34 for the anytime mobile internet access with an FUP of 250mb which should be fine.

But when I look on the "your account" section on the Orange site and select to change my bundles the only bundles available are £8 for 30mb and for 80mb its £41!!!!

Are these prices due to my low cost contract or just the online bundles section not being up to date? No point me getting the new phone if I can barely use it for web stuff.

Called them up and have been given 500mb anytime for £5 a month. Weird thing is she first offered 500mb evening and weekends for £5, when I questioned it asking about the £7.34 anytime bundle she said "oh hang on, we have a new bundle available" which was the 500mb anytime for £5?!

Why would both of them exist?! I'm interested to see what pops up on my bill hmmmmmm

Afaik the £7.34 bundle only has a 30day commitment period where as the £5 bundle cannot be removed until you are due to upgrade/cancel

Aha, now THAT she didn't mention, but it makes the lower cost more understandable and I'm cool with it

Not true. Can be added and removed at will.

Don't quote me on this, but the reason more than one bundle is available is that some people are still on the older bundles so they can't be removed from the systems.

She was a bit naughty, the £7.34 package is for when you take the package when you are already in contract,
the £5 is only meant to be given at the point of upgrade/new connection as a special offer
it can be canceled at any time

Well lets hope she didn't realise she was naughty and just didn't apply it, how can I tell once it's been applied, do I get an SMS?

nope, just ring back and they'll be able to see if it has been applied and from what date it starts

Called back and confirmed it starts today on £5 for 500mb anytime. Shame I don't have my new phone yet but happy I got a good deal...albeit through pure luck and possible lack of training
