who regulates these people - i dont intend to pay - what should i expect next ?

They are unregulated - The body they claim as a regulator, the BPA is a sham concoted to give a front of respectability to some of the worst operators.

Your best course of action is to ignore them and all the threatening letters (from both UKPC and various debt collectors) from this point on (but file the letters). There is very little chance of them following through with the threats and the letters themselves will eventually make the matter doubly unenforcable.

Oh and it is not a fine - All you have is an unenforcable invoice. :)

Yes its true, but he racked up £22500 in charges. But they took away he means of supporting his family and that I think is criminal actually illegal.

If they as it says believed they were allowed to park outside their home surely it should be within some documents.

    Hmmm. That's interesting.

That's a new housing development they're living in. The unadopted road will form part of the common land of the development of which each resident has a pro-indiviso share. So it would be interesting to know who the "landlord" that wanted the car moved is.

I currently owe Central Ticketing about £18,000 for the exact same issue. I'm praying they take me to court but it's highly unlikely.

Reading the article there is no certainty that there was a court hearing at all, it just says the car was towed away by central ticketing. A pity he could not fight this here or elsewhere as he seems to have a great case against them.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

downhiller is correct. The victim should seek legal remedy and will win if done properly, it could also result in criminal charges against the Company.

Totally agree but how would you get the message to them?

I guess you could look them on BT or contact the paper?
I all have learnt is from others on many sites.

Thanks for posting the link to the news story, when that particular 'estate' was built, they allocated 65 parking spaces for 170 properties, so plenty of scope for thieving money off the innocent when they park-up for the night.

My in-laws live very near to this development, and they have a residents parking zone to contend with, and yes, someone (not me) parks their car there and puts a full dust cover over it. I questioned a PEO about this, and they said it was legal to obscure your vrm unless the vehicle was actually moving. If you read the 'Drivers Survival Handbook' it also talks about this method, as does 'pepipoo'.

BTW, as for 'getting the message to him', I believe the info is all in the news item. On this estate, there are only a few houses with a garage, so if someone who lives closer to Colchester than me want to, they can always either door-know, or post a few leaflets (info that would be useful to any of the residents would soon get round by word of mouth anyway).

Actually, come to think of it, Martin, if your are reading this, how about a downloadable flier that we can print-out and stick-up in areas with private parking in force. The more people who know about it the better.

I live 30 mins away, next time i take a trip I might happend to stumble on his development, obviously parking in a correct manner and search for his house. Give him a few websites that he should maybe visit.

i wopuld love to flyer areas that private parking are in but you will probably be found to be littering, but there is no law in putting them on the windscreens of people that park in the area.

King, it seems I live closer than you, being only 5 miles away. Not sure when I'm in town next though.
