Connecting to the web on a 5800

I have just got the Nokia 5800 and am very chuffed with it!
The only problem I have is that that I don't get a great 3G reception in my house (not a huge problem as I do have broadband). I was looking through the settings and found that I can connect using the wireless LAN network I have in my home.
If I connect this way how much will I be charged? I'm on Virgin and have unlimited data (with fair use policy). I don't want to end up running up a huge bill!

If you connect through your home WLAN then you don't pay anything else - after all you are presumably already paying for broadband - it's just like connecting another device!

From one 5800XM owner to another.... its FREE FREE FREE. Wifi has nothing to do with Virgin. Its no different than accessing the web with your laptop on your home wireless broadband network.

    BUT!!!!

Make sure you are actually connecting to your wireless network and not going out over 3G when you do access the web with the 5800XM.

Goto ... Settings ... Connectivity ... Destinations ... Options ... Default Connection ... select "Always Ask".

This way every time you connect to the web with some application on the 5800XM, it will pop up a list of possible connection methods. Just select your wireless network.

BTW, if you have not found it yet, here is a link to pile of 5800XM tutorials.....

BTW2, if your having problems getting GPS lock. See this entry....

Some great info there thanks! It always asks me how I want to connect, so I always choose wireless LAN.

Be a good idea to goto the 'Download!' application on the 5800 and install OVI app store from there.

    Tonnes of free apps.
