It has "minor cosmetic damage" and a Celeron processor... so no.

How about one of these instead?

Thank you for replying. The netbook im after needs to be within £100-£200 with Windows XP and a decent enougth hard drive atleast 80GB. The Acer one doesnt meet these requirements but the other two do so thanks for the heads up.

The Compaq one looks tempting, i must admit, but then so does the Lenovo :)

Why does it have to be Windows XP? The alternatives are considerably more secure - not to mention cheaper - and in all likelihood will perform better too.

People don't want to learn, they just want what they know.

I want XP because thats what im used to, plus i can run most of my other softeare on it instead of not having it and using a PC to use it, defeats the object of getting a laptop.

I have been offerd a Compaq 702EA for £110, this good? it's brand new?

Even if it's been refurbished that's a very good price. Is there anything wrong with it?

They want what works and doesnt give them any hassle.

My first netbook was an Aspire with Linux. I lost an entire evening of my life getting VNC player working on it (as it didnt play .avi files out of the box) and it STILL didnt work. Contrast that with windows - 2 mins download from https://www.filehippo.com

If you still have it this might be of some use to you. Alternatively, if you install Ubuntu on it you can get the most popular codecs and plugins in just a few simple steps.

In some ways, software installation in Linux is really easy. In other ways... not so much.

People have plenty of problems with Windows, as even a cursory glance at this forum will testify.

Linux comes in many different flavours; I hear Ubuntu Netbook Remix is very good.

though thats because 99.% of the users on here use windows? More users = more problems.

If you've the time to spend on linux then i'm sure its fine. I'm just past the point in my life where i see installing and understanding completely different o/s's as 'fun' or even worth the hassle.
