I have just sold three school dresses on ebay, excellent condition and the buyer lives not far so I know they are going to want to collect. So they have gone for 99p, by the time I pay the fees there will be nothing left. On the invoice is an option to make a charge for collection, has anyone ever done this.
I realise in this case its too late, I can't charge now as I should have shown it i my listing.
Also something else has gone to someone in denmark when i had only quoted for uk postage. This buyer could end up balking if the price is to hight to ship abroad.
Realistically though if 99p is too little for the item then you should have started it higher. Postage costs should be just that, actual postage plus envelopes and wrapping, if you start building profit into your postage you will hit major problems very quickly as it annoys many buyers. In fact depending on how much extra you appear to have added you may well have only got 99p because others buyers wouldn't bid on an item where postage looks excessive.
Just remember if buyer asks to colelct you can refuse, but if you take cash on collection then you won't pay any paypal fees.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If these are the checked type school dresses they wouldnt really have sold for much higher anyway. Asda and the like are selling at £3-£5 so there isnt much money in them second hand.
On the plus side, they make great dusters

. He has reassured me that I don't need to worry as he is a genuine buyer with all positive feedback and I will be completely safe.
But they have 100% feedback - they MUST be trustworthy?!
When will people realise that buyer feedback is utterly meaningless?<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

Probably not long after ebay realise it themselves and scrap it.0 -

I have posted the latest missive from ebay.com on another thread but it is interesting to note the importance that ebay.com appear to want to place on DSRs, I wonder if this is a move away from reliance on overall feedback and towards those blasted DSRs.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I was being marked down on postage so I started to offer free postage and, guess what, I still got marked down. Go figure? So now I'm back to charging £4.95 for secure post.0

With the new ebay.com rules come in buyer will be positively encouraged to leave only 5 stars for postage where postage is free on the auction....supposedly.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
