Hi you could boil them and then take all the meaty bit off them add some boild veg and blend down and turn into soup should keep well and i dont see why you can not freeze this and use later. its got to get cold this week so a hot bowl of soup for lunch dinner or supper might do you good..
Or how about backing them and eating them with a backed spud and some salad?:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -

Surely you need smoked mackerel for pate? I make it by mashing smoked mackerel with yoghurt and lots of black pepper.
With regard to cooking fresh mackerel, love it best rolled in seasoned flour/oatmeal, but yes, does it smell - all windows open and kitchen door shut.
Best way to cook without smell, but not having to use (expensive) oven, is to butter a small casserole, place mackerel in it with lemon, possibly some apple chunks and seasoning, put lid on and microwave for a few minutes.
But make sure you don't use metal casserole!0 -
Have just boughts some fresh mackerel as cheap and I understand very healthy but I have no idea how to cook it apart form the obvious of bunging in the oven in foil. Any bright and tasty ideas please?:j0
