New ink cartridges not printing

I have a HP Deskjet F2280 printer and needed to replace the cartridges.
I bought some from Tesco yesterday, but instead of the proper HP ones decided to try their own 'remanufactured' cartridges instead.
I've put them in but they don't appear to want to print properly. I thought it was just the colour one initially as everything blue I printed comes out either pink, or just doesn't print. I tried to print the same page in black instead and what came out is in my avatar. That should be an almost solid blue (well, now grey/black) background.
I've managed to print some small photos with many colours and that's fine, but it seems to be struggling with anything bigger.
I've done all the cartridge cleaning etc. and it seems to want to print a test page everytime I switch it on now, but doesn't seem to improve it at all. The text that prints is missing parts as well.
Any ideas? I'm starting to think I should have just bought the proper ones, but couldn't see a multipack on the HP ones and thought i'd try and save some money...hmm!

I think this is just the problem of re manufactured cartridges. However, you should be protected under the sale of goods act as they obviously aren't fit for purpose. You should try amazon for cartridges as they are usually the cheapest for genuine inks.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

Hmm, well they don't seem to be any better today.
Just printed a document and it had lines through it. Tried to print the previous page and the blue comes out stripey and pink. Tried it again in black and the same stripes so i'm assuming they're knackered.
I haven't got the packaging anymore (went out with the rubbish yesterday, so can't even get it) but I do have the receipt. I might go over tomorrow and see what they say. Hope they let me exchange them for the proper ones, but without the packaging are they likely to just say no?Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

I can't imagine it's going to matter about the packaging since they don't seem to be any use to anyone anyway. Although they might use it as as point against. Just stick your ground though!
If they do let you exchange, you'll have to pay the difference in price.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
I'm tagging along shopping with my dad tomorrow now, so no doubt he'll kick up a fuss if there is a problem! I'm going to take a (stripey) printout with me just in case they need to see what the problem is.
Yeah I know, it's only about £5 extra though so that's fine (if they have them!) That was one reason I didn't get the proper ones before as I couldn't see a multipack and didn't want to buy them individually.

Try 7dayshop.com -I don't know your particular cartridges obviously, but often the originals from them aren't much different in price now that they include delivery in their prices. Just worth a look
For what it's worth I use originals in my Epson because it sits idle for 7 months of the year but it has always fired up first time and prints without a problem. If I was using it every day I would LOOK at non-originals.0 -
Thanks. Just had a look and to buy the proper ones seperately on there actually works out cheaper than buying the remanufactured multipack I bought, how strange.
I don't use my printer that much, but do need it at the moment for application forms/CV's (i'm one of the many millions unemployed) so would rather get the proper ones than risk sending streaky CV's!Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

I've used 7dayshop.com dozens & dozens of times for many many years
for all sorts of things, deliveries take about 5-7 days from the Channel Islands but never had a problem. highly recommended.0 -

I took mine back to Tesco today and I thought they were going to say no. She started saying that the manufacturers recommend the official cartridges but this time she would let me return them. I appreciate the official ones are recommended, but don't think they should be selling the remanufactured ones if they don't work!
Anyway, I couldn't get the HP ones there as they didn't have the multipack of both and I wasn't planning on paying over £30 to get them individually so she gave me a refund.
I've just ordered some off the site you've recommended so will wait for them. Bit of a pain as I did need them quicker, but I may as well wait and save some money. If need be, i'll have to get someone else to print what I need until they arrive.
Thanks againGrocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

Just to add that these arrived today and are fine. I'll add the site to my favourites and use them in future! Thanks again for the recommendationGrocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

Glad you managed to get some working cartridges in the end. I had three from three different sources in one day that wouldn't work properly.
I found a possible fix which involves soaking the cart printhead in hot water for at least 30-45 mins.
It's worth a try for anyone else having the same problem.
