I pay back my Barclays loan through CCCS, back in October I was informed that to I neeeded to change my payment details which I did but this was not fully implemented so payments went missing.

In march I became away of a problem as a payment had been returned. At the time I should have owed about 300 pounds had all my payments gone through but i was told that i owed 2,800 pounds. (about 700 pounds had gone missing)

This has been now brought forward as a complaint as they cant explain to me how they came to this figure, i have asked for statements on several occassions and even sent in SAR their 40 days expired 29th June. No statements have been sent to myself as apparently statements are only generated annually and they cant issue statements due to an issue with the system and they dont have the facility to do that??!!

I was promised that interest and charges would be frozen whilst investigated which happened for a short while until they took it upon themselves to close and whacked on charges.

I am meant to be charged 20.74% apr but I want proof of this, I have gone to financial ombusdman service but this can take about a year to sort out.

any ideas what else can be done?

You mentioned the Financial Ombudsman, but have you escalated your complaint through Barclays' own complaints procedure first?

can't help other than echo the hassle with Barclays. Have posted before that my hassles have gone on for over 12 years-I just can't get any sense.Put in a request for information and only got staements to 2007 which seemed to indicate the ccounts were clear. But have had letters from various debt collection agencies for BC accounts that aren't mine. Asked for the credit agreements and got two very badly photocopied application forms back. Am still paying them but they've registered a default on Equifax. I think they've lost my records

Anyone with any tips how to resolve this mess-even the debt helplines can't advise. Given that the debt is for a crooked agency that went bust, given that I've been paying them I don't reckon I owe them anything-but how do I resolve this

Given what I know now I would never ever use BC again

I got told the same thing but the 'statements' show I paid interest. As you say you get passed round from office to office, account numbers change I would really appreciate some help with this. The Consumer Forum look as if it might be helpful. Is this a Barclays ploy ?Is it incompetence ?

These statements I got sent stop in 2007, They claim they have no correspondence but they've sold me on countless times-and all the time I'vebeen paying them as agreed. A total nightmare

Good luck everybody and don't be a Barclays customer

Have just been on the Consumer Forum. For anyone interested there is a ream of advice and information for anyone drowning in the Barclaycard mess. And all the stories are echoes of mine-seems there are substantial issues with Subject Access Requests to BC.
  • so basically they are above the law
