Animal sanctuarys are bursting with cats & kittens desparate for a good home. It's getting to the stage where cats are having to be put to sleep due to the sheer number of homeless felines. I know there are cats desperate for a home, but please don't get one just because you have a cockroach problem. That is the total wrong reason to adopt a cat, in fact I find it bizarre at best, abhorrent at worst.

I don't mean to sound judgemental, but you are not coming across as a person capable of offering a good secure home to any pet. I would seriously re-consider your options.
