Can you offer a foster home or permanent residency to a cat or a kitten?

Animal sanctuarys are bursting with cats & kittens desparate for a good home. It's getting to the stage where cats are having to be put to sleep due to the sheer number of homeless felines. Even pregnant females are being put to sleep, the situation is at breaking point. If you or someone you know can offer accomodation, even if it's on a temporary basis, then please contact you local sanctuary and register your interest.
Ark on the Edge is an animal sanctuary based in County Durham (near Barnard Castle). It offers temporary accomodation to felines and wildlife. Although I do not work at the sanctuary, I have needed to use their services in the past. They kindly took in a stray cat and kittens that I found and since re-homed them.
This sanctuary is overwhelmed with felines and is desparatly seeking foster or permanent homes. If you can help, please check out their website where you will find contact details. If you discover a problem with the website or want email addresses/telephone numbers, please send me a pm.
Even if you could send donations, could be cash or in the form of food and cat litter, that would be a great help and very much appreciated.
Thank You!

I have recently done this with the RSPCA. They pay all the vets bills (and some areas pay all other expenses as well including food), and you get the pleasure of rehoming a lovely cat!
Our foster cat is lovely, and has bought a lot of pleasure to our family. She has come out of a 3 day vet stay today, having been quite poorly, and all this was paid for.
For those considering a cat, I would say this is a really good way of doing it.0

I foster cats for The Blue Cross, everything is paid for and the cats are provided with a lovely heated chalet to live in. It is so nice I may move in!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

If you live near Barnard Castle in County Durham, please consider contacting Ark on the Edge. It is ran by an oldish couple, who rely only on donations, they get no help from other animal related agencies. The lady who runs the sanctuary has had to take in more felines than she has room for. It would be great if those of you looking for a cat, could take the strain off Ark on the Edge.0

I don't really know how you approach the RSPCA to be honest. I guess you telephone them and register your interest. Obviously it will go from there.0

I can't stress how important volunteer fosterer's are. Most animal charities would be only too happy to take on people willing to give a temp home for cats while they get rehomed. The more fosterers the more cats a charity can help.
However I feel I really must disagree with people who think it's a great alternative to rehoming your own cat. The cat is only with you until it can find a forever home- I realise this might never happen with some of the older cats- but you before you foster ask yourself if you can bear to get attached to a lovely cat then watch it go home with someone else.
I really hope that ark on the edge find the extra helpers they need to carry on and wish widelats good luck with fostering.0
