Well done for posting here. I went into Al-Anon absolutely desperate because of the effect someone else's drinking was having on my life. I found the help I needed there - it saved my sanity. PM me anytime.

How are you nicecarkeys?
I would like to say too that I only talk about myself and my experiences here - it is for each person to decide for themselves what to do about their problems. Also, I do not represent the views of Al-Anon, I am just giving my own opinionThat's life, it's just the way it is0 -
Hi All,
I'm now 4 months sober (stopped on 7 December 2006) and am doing well. Life is improving and AA has been fantastic. I now have a sponsor to support me and I'm keen to keep up the good work and build on the positive results I'm experiencing already.
One thing though - I would like to go on holiday, but I'm on my own and haven't a clue what to do that won't pressure me at such an early stage in my recovery.
Has anyone been to a retreat/spa for a week or so where there was a chance to rest, recuperate and be well looked after (losing a bit of weight would be useful too)
I would be so grateful for any recommendation of place or of websites to try. It's late and I've been online for ages searching, but now I'm just confused!
Many thanks for your time and Al... well done on your one year. I've followed your journey from the start of this thread and you and Beer have been an enormously good influence for me. I don't get online so much now, but I am grateful to you and all who contribute to this thread.
With best wishes,

Well done Hiphouse that's a fantastic achievement.
Did you want to stay in Britain? There are Buddhist retreats where I'm sure you would get what you want. I haven't been myself though.
I hope you find somethingThat's life, it's just the way it is0 -

Thank you all so much for the advice and the links. I'll follow them up.
I hope that all who are wanting to stop drinking get the support you need. Just remember, all you need to do is not pick up the first drink. Have a biscuit/chocolate instead! I couldn't do this without AA - it's not a religious cult, it's just a group of people who share their experiences, strength and hope. This has been so important to me - these people really know how you're feeling and offer amazing fellowship. Why not try it - just take out of it what you want, you don't have to accept everything that's said.
My life has turned around in December in ways I would never have expected, in that all is so much more positive and I'm excited about the future (a first!)
Best wishes and thanks again to you all.
