Well done hun;) Half the time it IS all about admitting to yourself that there is a problem....I go through phases of this sometimes.....I'll be going overboard with the drink....feel soo bad that...it's like the end of the world..then at other times I'll think.....oh so what... I drink a 'bit' much at times (quite regularly:o )....it's not as bad as I think. ..but it is if it makes you feel like crap...physically or otherwise.......I don't think the actual amount matters that much......well, obviously it does if it is physically damaging you (doesn't everything!)...

I'm lucky in that OH only drinks on VERY rare nights out with work.........thank god! (don't see too many 30 something 6ft odd blokes (!!!!ed) 'trying' to 'break dance' do you!

Saying that....he knows what it is like to live with someone with a drink problem....(not me btw)....well...me now obviously.....but he puts no pressure at all on me...he knows it is down to me.....and he'll support me..

Hope you find a way Jacd....we all have to find our own way....(I do definately....cos I am a stubborn cow....:D and I will not listen to anyone else.....has to be my decision)

    Take care XX
  • IT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA TO BUY DRINK AS PRESENTS FOR OTHER PEOPLE....BECAUSE IT WILL BE IN YOUR HOUSE (TEMPTING YOU! ) UNTIL IT HAS BEEN GIVEN TO THE APPROPRIATE PERSON!

I just felt the need to write that to stop me opening the bottle of Port I've bought for my sister and her hubby:o

Self control woman...COME ON! get a grip! grrrrrrrrrrrr:rolleyes:

I understand your problem Chris, sort of, spirits I might consider. We have a few cans of beer and 18 bottles of wine. And I haven't had the urge. Often :(

I don't even drink port! I think its just because it's there...as is the bottle of Bailey's for his mum...but that is not drawing me....now if it was a bottle of vodka or ....dare I say...(the drink of the devil:o )...Southern Comfort....now that may be too much temptation!........I am trying to tell myself to stick to my gins. (that's meant to say guns btw....but I thought it was an appropriate faux pas...so I left it in!...not that I drink gin at all)...and give it up.....I AM searching very deep...........for some willpower...IT IS in there ....somewhere:rolleyes:

I know what you mean....it is a sign of a problem when you choose your 'drink of choice' on whether or not it leaves a smell.......that and whether or not you hide the bottle:o which I have done many times...(and not in the too distant past either).......because no one is going to notice that you are !!!!ed as a fart are they:rolleyes:

With that in mind...I don't know why I keep going for the SC....I mean...it bloody stinks for one!.......and because that switch in your brain which is supposed to tell you to stop goes faultly:o ...it is quite BLATANTLY obvious when I've been drinking it!

Does your sister no you drink, a lot? Does she know it is a problem? Could you, should you, have bought something else?

Had my mother on the phone earlier, she's coming on Sunday, going on Tuesday. Think it is going to be a hard time ;)
