That is fascinating about sugar levels.

Have you read any books by Susan Powter? She usually writes about diet but pointed out the connection between sugar addiction and alcohol in an anecdotal way, saying that all the people who were "on the wagon" were scoffing doughnuts like there was no tomorrow!

Hi no self control and welcome

There is no easy solution, you have to find something else to do, thats all you can do.
I use this thread as something to do and mse, sounds daft, but it works for me.

    Thanks for the welcome.

I think a big part of my problem is the fear of having those voices going round and round in my head when I go to bed. I can be busy online then see that it's almost 8 and I think crap better get to the shop before it closes, because I know if I don't have a drink I'll be up all nite thinking.

    I hate it.

I remember a shrink pointing out that it's the sugar in alcohol that provides the energy when someone's drinking all the time. After all food is never a priority and the energy has to come from somewhere.

    Hi No self :)

I can understand that, vodka definately makes the time pass quickly.
Haven't found a foolproof answer but an absorbing book helps me a lot. Do you have any other interests you could spend more time on (without making them into a chore I mean) ?

I'm online a lot, but thing is I can do that while drinking, the same as reading, so they both kind of go hand in hand in my mind now :(

I even joined one of those dvd rental by post clubs to try to have a dvd to watch each night but drinking still made the time pass faster. What I need is company, but I haven't got that.

I get that about the time, even when I have no intention of drinking, it just slips into my head, very scary.

It sounds daft, but the less you drink, the better your sleep patterns will get and the easier you should get to sleep, its a hard habit to break, sang someone, how true is that.......chicago did the singing?

Have to say that sometimes I have to cheat and take a sleeping pill, though that's certainly not the way for everyone.
