Hope everyone who needs to find you manages to make their way here.

Lets hope there is less confrontation now you are under the "health " banner.

I agree with your welcome to anyone who wants to help, support, join in or just "lurk".

Lets hope anyone who has an issue with this thread will contact a board guide for guidance rather than provoke confrontation as happened last night.

    Good luck.

    Thanks elona

I think that lurkers make up a part of the thread and always have done, not everyone can post their innermost thoughts on a chat forum. I always hoped it would help others, not just the people that post all the time, even if it just gets them to rethink something about themselves a tiny bit.
Thankyou for your continuing support :kisses3:

    you ok ac
  • I've been lurking on the other thread and realised (well I already knew but didn't want to admit it) that I am drinking far too much.

I drink most nights a week, out of nothing but boredom. I'm a single mum and I find the night intolerably long when I'm sober, and then when I go to bed I find it very hard to get to sleep because my mind goes over all the things that are wrong in my life. The stupid thing is a lot of those very problems are being caused by drinking. Every morning I get up vowing not to drink, until about 8pm when I see that yet again there is nothing on tv and I have another long night of thinking ahead so I pop to the corner shop for a half bottle of vodka.

When I have friend or family over I don't give the drink a second thought.

I want to cut back my drinking I don't think I'm an alcoholic (but then again maybe I am they say most alcoholics won't admit it) but I know for definite I do have a drinking problem.

I hope that my post is on topic enough for you Saint. ;)

    Thanks beer

I was using the word lurker in a positive sense, as even on the most innocuous subjects it can be difficult to summon up the courage to post.

I think that the thread is doing a lot of good in encouraging people who would not consider that they, or friends, had a problem, to reconsider or cut down!

The amount of people who would not have posted on the previous thread, but did post to support you all at the end was heartwarming.

Were they alcoholics chocolates, if not then you are off topic, this is the Health Board if you have forgotton.
no the fact is saint if you are addicted to alcohol you stop
your sugar levels drop....which is unpleasant and some times dangerous
so my doctor told me to eat choclotate to raise the levels quickly
after a while its used as comfort food
most of the alcoholics on here were shocked about the amount of choc they consumed......after they gave up alcohol

Hi no self control and welcome

Your not alone, in that your problems are caused to a certain extent by alcohol and yet you feel you need it to deal with them.
I think thats how alot of us are.

There is no easy solution, you have to find something else to do, thats all you can do.
I use this thread as something to do and mse, sounds daft, but it works for me.

    Hi No self :)

I can understand that, vodka definately makes the time pass quickly.
Haven't found a foolproof answer but an absorbing book helps me a lot. Do you have any other interests you could spend more time on (without making them into a chore I mean) ?
