Hi, I've never posted here before because I don't think that I've got anything helpful to say but I do follow this thread every day to see how you're all doing.

I haven't drank for about 15 years because it doesn't agree with me, 2 glasses of wine & I'm throwing up but I have lived with the effects of alcohol. My mother was killed by a drunk-driver, my OH was a weekly binge-drinker who finally stopped 10 years ago after ending up in hospital for the 4th time (he has medical problems that mean he shouldn't drink but ignored the doctors) and I had to move house because of a neighbours drink problem.

I have nothing but respect and admiration for all of you on here for what you are trying to do, admitting you have a problem and doing something about it is very, very hard. The support you give each other is wonderful and I hope this thread carries on so you can continue being so helpful and kind.

I can't really do or say anything to help so I'll send you all my love and best wishes instead and continue following this thread, it puts a smile on my face each morning when someone adds a day to their signatures. Good luck and I hope you all continue to support each other. :grouphug:

I get a tear in my eye every time someone new just pops out with words of encouragement.

Went out with friends last night, didn't drink, sniffed Mrs Macs G&T, she thought it wasn't. It was, didn't even fancy a sip to check:o

One bloke actually admitted he drank too much, also said he used work and socialising as an exscuse. Good to admit. Don't think it was going to change him though:confused:

You never know Al. Maybe he is thinking bit more deeply about it now so it could be the start for him.
