uk pay as you go along for france

I want to end my contract with carphone warehouse. I have a PUK number but need to sort out the pay as you go along option. I need to keep my old number. someone recommended i go with vodafone's passport option on a pay as you go along but i have not been happy with this company. i dont really receive any calls at present but would like to keep number just in case. i prefer O2 and at present am spending time in france.

questions:
1) what are the next steps now i have my PUK number
2) what do people think of 02.

Thanks in advance.

Do you mean PUK number? THis is the number you need if you type in your SIM pin wrongly too many times. It allows you to reset the PIN. It doesn't unlock it from the network

Despite your dislike of Vodafone, this would be the best option. Outgoing calls would be 75p connect charge then their normal tariff, which is 5p per minute off-peak. O2 would charge 69p per minute on the Euro bolt-on option.

You might also look into getting a French SIM card, but as you've asked on another thread, perhaps you already are.

Need_More_Money has already explained the PUK number but I think your confusing it with another code reference, the PAC number.

The PAC number allows you to port your phone number from one network to another. I think this is what your referring to. :)
