Obviously any money is better than nothing.

430 shares for a with profits from Feb 1994 £71 per week, £50,400 (with the obvious shortfall warning).

I think I really should have killed the policy last year, I have continues to pay in for this, when my policy achieves 2% per year, and I could be paying it off my mortgage instead.

The calculation seems to give much more credance to the age of the policy, rather than how much you are paying in.

    One example below:

    Aug/sept '88 - £45k endow, £55/month - approx £11,500 paid in - 821 shares

    My one :

    Feb '94 - £50k endow, £71/month - approx £10,500 paid in - 430 shares

A huge difference for similar investment amounts

I started paying into a standard life pension about £100/month from 1996. I stopped paying into it about 2 years ago. i have been offered 268 shares. i think the value of the pension was about £12000 the last time i checked.

Did you invest £20 in 2003 or £1 million in 2004?

I only got 186!! Is this a new low! Dont really understand any of this, think its for a pension one of my old employers took out for me. I was only with the company for 2 1/2 years from 2003 - 2005.

It's lucky that pet insurance is a relatively recent innovation or the Standard Life board would probably be about to award a majority stake in the company to a tortoise that invested a farthing in 1825. :D
