I have several email address's that I use all the time. One that I cant change is my Supanet address as I use it for Genealogy research and its on all the Genealogy sites for a contact address. Problem being, I am suddenly being bombarded with American Spam on this addy. Each one that comes in I block the senders address, but different ones appear all the time. Is there anything that I can do ?

i have 3 old supanet email addresses, and somehow there is a lot of spam arriving, one in particular.... i don't know how the spammers get the email addresses, as i always check all of the don't recieve email boxes, and also don't publish the address on any websites, so i am amazed as to how it gets found0

activate your junk mail filter or get an e-mail client which has a junkmail filter eg thunderbird... should do the job!0

The most likely reason you are bombarded with spam is because you have posted your email address on the internet. Spammers use 'bots' (automated computer programs) to read through web pages and harvest email addresses.
One way is to enter it in a way that a human will understand what it is, eg
myname {at} myisp {dot} com
Block email addresses is a complete waste of time as it's easy for spammers to send from any email address they like.
The other thing you must do is avoid opening the spam. Some spam is written in such a way as to allow the sender to see whether it's been opened. If you open it and it sends a message to them, it confirms your email address is valid and they will send you more spam.
If you use Outlook Express, disable the Preview Pane. Do a search with Google for preview pane.0 -
Thanks for the suggestions Skiddy & Donny. I dont really want to change from Outlook Express to another client if I can help it. Will take on board the suggestion re the Preview Pane. Was wondering if you can recommend a freeware Spam Filter programme that will run with Outlook Express ?0

OR
