All electric items are turned off at the plug and they are forced to participate :p that's my way of doing things. ;)

Well it was yesterday really, but I had a really nice crop of Mangetout! I'm a beginner so I got really excited at picking enough for a whole meal for the family! I have grown rocket in ornamental pots which has been so easy to grow I wonder why everyone doesn't grow it.

Got some chard ready but not sure what to do with it, how do you cook yours?

Finished off all the lovely broad beans on the weekend, looking forward to courgettes and loads of tomatoes soon - PLEASE let us have some sun...
I like my swiss chard when about 10" high, pick the outer leaves first and it keeps growing back. I strip the green leaf from the stalk, chop the stalks up and chuck those in the pot first for 2 mins, and then I put the leaves in for 2 mins. Wilts down like spinach, delicious:TI think its one of the best veg you can get, it keeps growing for months.

  • Been busy picking bilberries from the moors near our caravan this week - got 5 lbs so far (now safely in the freezer) and hopefully, weather permitting, will get more when we go back at the weekend. Then it will be a case of waiting for the blackberries to ripen - they are very early in your part of the world XNatalie. Lucky you!
