I sold some toms on monday (about 10lbs) and gave away some courgettes that were becoming marrows...
this week so far we have had courgette soup, courgette frittata, salad (little gems lettuce, cress and cucumber), salsa, from HG chillies and toms, spaghetti squash (three times).. and I have a multitude of courgettes, round and normal ones in the kitchen - aarrggh!
Shoudl be good for the diet though!0 -
"Emmahip: Got some chard ready but not sure what to do with it, how do you cook yours?"
Usually steam the de-stemmed leaves but as a treat soften the stems in melted marge
Foreign Correspondent, I tried a courgette bake the other day, absolutely delicious. Soften 400g of sliced courgettes and 1 chopped medium onion in oil and put in casserole dish. Beat 4 eggs, add 200g of grated strong cheese, mix together the eggs and cheese and add salt and pepper to taste. Then pour over the courgettes and onions and bake at 190C for 20-25 minutes ubtil risen and set. Should serve 2 people. Cant take any credit as it was an adaptation of a recipe I saw on the net. Your frittata sounds good, must try that

I just picked the second cucumber of my seemingly very prolific plants (there's flowers and veg everywhere, and it just keeps climbing!). It was massive, I am still amazed how quickly these creep up on me- 2 days of rain and I suddenly have random fully grown ones from almost nothing! Such fun! Glad everyone else is enjoying the fruits of their labour. :j0

This has been my first year at growing any veg so it's been fingers crossed and hope for the best! This week I delved into the potato tubs and what excitement when I actually found some potatoes in there!!! I had grown Nicola salad potatoes and Desiree redskin and they were perfect! We sampled them for tea of course and couldn't believe how nice they were. Passed some on to the offspring and they both agreed they were far superior in taste to supermarket ones. I was so proud! I also grew radish which were ready earlier, spring onions still waiting to be picked and some lettuce which all disappeared when we were on holiday!
Next year I am going to attempt to grow lots more things and now looking into what I could plant over winter! Wish I had caught the growing bug years ago!
Happy picking all!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

Hi there,
I bought some 'Cornichon de Paris' seeds on Ebay, they weren't a commercial brand, just from the seller I think. After starting them off in pots in the greenhouse, I've grown them in large containers along trellis, and just fed with liquid tomato food once a week. I meant to pickle them all but we're actually enjoying them sliced thinly and sauteed with dill. They've done so well wish I'd grown even more!
I'm sorry yours haven't done too well, maybe they're better grown outside?
I definitely would recommend the kind I have for next year though.0 -

i just picked 2 nice size cabbages.. 1 for us and 1 for church
God helps make my veggie patch grow. He provides everything I need.. It only fails if I do NOT do as He has told me!!
Imagine if Christianity spread like swine flu... how much better the world would be!! God Bless!0
