This is great news that there are coin sorters - guess if they publicised it they would be a victim of there own success with everyone using them and then being out of order.
However being based in brighton is guess that the nearest ones are going to be in central london. It not to bad as every 6 week or so i venture up to london for one reason or another, and it just means stopping off along on the tube. Can anyone give me the road one of these machines can be found in a branch. I entered the ones in london into 'find a brach' on the barclays website but didnt always come out with one brach and since it doesnt list having these machines, still left me rather lost.

    thanks there guys
Woking will be closest to Brighton.

It's a good 30 minute drive away from me, whereas Natwest (where I used to bank) Is under 10 minutes including parking. Barclays should get them in more branches than that small list, it's not like my Barclays branch is small.

It looks as though they are removing them as part of the refurbishments - the new list of branches looks much shorter than the earlier one :(

It's annoying since I used to use the coin sorter in the Woking branch until they pulled it...but I suppose it's possible they got rid of it due to insufficient take up. Then again, Barclays never advertised them much to customers either.

You could always open a Metro Bank account and use their coin sorting machines...although I don't have any personal experience of them (an aside - I noticed that in an interview with the Chief Exec they said that they were considering opening a Brighton branch).

That's ridiculous. If the market wasn't so bad, I wouldn't be surprised if they went into purely business banking and mortgages. Their whole personal banking system seems to have issues.

Actually, the machines are free to use for everyone, so you don't need an account with them unless you want a new bank account. I've had my account for a year now and have never used the coin counting machines, as I hardly carry any cash with me, let alone spare change. A friend of mine has recently taken £400+ worth of coins to the Holborn branch.

P.S. Last time I was there, on Tuesday with my friend, we took 3-4 lollies each.

Went into the Woking branch last week to ask about the coin deposit machine, they said it was removed because

Local businesses were often using it and filling it up (as it was only emptied twice a week)
Apparently people were feeding it with coins covered in chewing gum etc. and jamming the machine
  • Hey guy,

I found a website call cashincoins.co.uk which has a search feature to find your nearest in branch coin deposit machine.

    Has Barclay's, HSBC and Natwest

HSBC was quoted as having 200 - just a shame their website doesn't state which ones.. though it tends to be the bigger branches as you might expect.

    Many listed in this thread.
