is there a coin sorter at the sloane sqare branch?0 -
It seems a bit pointless having these machines in a handful of branches only. Wasn't another 'bank' such as Abbey mentioned on Moneybox as having around 200 (i.e. a 'useful' number)?
I went in my local Abbey branch today, with about £90 in coins, all bagged up correctly into bags with their correct denominations. No ways would they take it. "We have a five bag policy sir" -
I wasn't happy, I have been a customer with Abbey ever since my nan took me to open a disney account back in the mid 80's when I was 10yrs old, and have never changed since. They were only about 30 small coin bags, they only needed to be weighed. I wanted to pay it into my Abbey bank account, not even cash it there and then.
Anyway I called head office complaints when I got home, and after a bit of wrangling, they said they would do it for me tomorrow..... as a "one off!" like they were doing me a favour, paying money into my own 20 odd year bank account!!!
So I am seriously considering changing all my savings accounts/ISA's, etc... into another bank, just on this one bad experience. I'm not happy.
It's all a bit of a faffle though isn't it. Natwest say you can do it in 4 easy steps, but you have to get new bank cards, cancel/setup new direct debits, advice HR at work, your new bank details, for your salary to be paid into...etc...etc...
P.S. I don't know of any Abbey branch that has those automated coin sorting machines.0 -
Yes, but you are charged royally for the convenience. I'd rather pay 0% at a bank than 8.9% at a supermarket.0

I'd like to take some change to Barclays to one of their coin counting machines. There's none of these in my area, but I'm down in London for a bit soon. Which branches have this facility? Barclays website is very unhelpful on this one.
I'd prefer central London locations if possible. I hope someone can help this provincial girl out
have you got any natwest accounts (even savings acccounts) as they have the machines in some branches too, (you can either use a chip and pin card, or if you have their savings accounts and dont have a card, then you can use a paying in slip with the account number, sortcode etcMFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -

They sent me a list of all branches that have the coin machines. Thought others might be interested, so here it is:
Thank you for your email
Our support team have advised of the following branch, please be aware that these are for the use of Barclays Customers:
MOORGATE
Hi
Just bumping up this thread.
Can anyone confirm if the Moorgate branch still has this facility. Ive rang BB and they have no clue - the branch had a refit so they arent sure.

Out of the list I know that Moorgate doesn't have one anymore. Visited Lewisham today and I don't think that branch has ever had one going of the blank looks.
Going to give Piccadilly Circus a try.0 -
Just found one this morning in my Barclays branch in Portsmouth High Street... Great News...no more bagging up and paying out to coinstar... WooHoo0

Hi
There is one at HSBC off Cannon Street (near the train station) - you need to have an HSBC or First Direct account and then money is put into your account.
The address is
60 Queen Victoria Street
London
