It is every citizen's duty to do their stint of jury service if asked.

Of course there will always be good reasons why a particular time is unsuitable, and there is a mechanism in place to help resolve those issues.

But some people here seem to be saying...
"Its nothing to do with me. Its not my responsibility. Let someone else do my duty".

And this is exactly my point. I have no opinon either way on the merits of parents of small children doing it or not, I was playing devil's advocate (as I pointed out many posts ago). But from some of the responses it does seem to be a similar thing to issues such as MMR and those who drive massive cars, etc.... as long as me and mine are okay then sod the effect it has on the wider world. But I expect nothing less on this board and bow out of this discussion as I evidently know nothing about child rearing .

And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

Some people seemed very happy to learn from Janepig's experience of the court system early in the thread. What a pity they resorted to sarcasm as she explained how the system worked for those needing child-care.

    Janepig didn't make the rules.

Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)
  • I can understand how people feel on this thread, when my kids were younger I was relieved that as a doctor, I would be excused from jury service (that has changed now). I did have part time child care but it would still have caused more problems for me.
Now I wouldn't mind doing it - would deffo make a change from wall to wall swine flu.....
