This is getting far too complicated for me I'm afraid. I don't even understand what you are suggesting in para 1, and in any case I am not techie skilled enough to do it, and wouldn't even dare be talked through it.

Doesn't sound like a wireless connection issue anyway. What version of Firefox are you using? Help, About

There isn't a About key under the Help menu, so I'm stuck on that question.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Oops, found it now. Version 2.0.0.9 That's a coincidence seeing as I bought the machine in 2008.

Well FF is now at 3.5.1 so perhaps an update is long overdue!

Oh dear. Needless to say I haven't a clue how to get an update. If it's foolproof I might have a go if someone tells me how.

Really am going out now, the shops will be shut!

It's not quite that simple in Linux; you need to run Firefox with administrative privileges and even then it may claim that there are no updates available.

A quick-and-dirty solution for the Eee PC involves downloading and running this script, then opening a terminal window and typing sudo firefox.

Only then can you check for updates. ;)

Yes I did wonder after posting. Thanks for clarifying and posting the script.
