May be as well to use/open an account with a different bank/building soc (one with whom you are not in debt ) - to use for your day to day requirements- if money is likely to be transferred to you this way.0

No its not funny to go abusing the staff.
Ive lost count of the number of times people have been advised to use a different account if they are in debt. Unfortunatly its perfectly legal due to set aside rules, and the fact that he hasn't seen any letters is irrelevent as the bank has fulfilled its obligation by sending them.
Blair Oliver are their in house debt collectors. Advise you negotiate a low repayment plan and stick to it.
Surely you can get jobseekers allowance.0 -
Wow, what a cretin you are. Was that an insult or abuse?0

At the end of the day they don't give a !!!!!! about us so why should we give a !!!!!! about them? They decided to work for the scum of the earth and so should, by rights be party to the same name calling - sorry but that is life.
I do not condone violence but name calling and arguing, yea - get in there!
Dog eat dog - and that works both ways....
p.s. abuse and insult are two different things altogether and I never used the term abuse....
Because they are entitled to be treated with dignity and respect.
In addition, 'name-calling and arguing' isn't an effective attitude or approach to resolving a complaint.0 -

Biggest mistake I come across, and why I tend to get the result I want when others don't is knowing the difference between assertive and aggressive. Insulting or abusing will never get you what you want.
While I've got a healthy level of contempt for the sharp practices that banks and other financial institutions have adopted over the years, I understand that the front-line cannon fodder are employees who get up, get their kids to school and go to work, put up with a bit of crap during the day, go home and make the dinner.
Pretty sure you're winding up the right-on brigade, but unfortunately some people do read these posts and take it as serious advice"A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -
but am I not entitled to get my money back if I prove I have no income and the money was for rent?
Actually I think that if you can demonstrate that the funds were required for essential living items (i.e. rent\food etc) then HBOS are required to refund some\all of the funds. You will need to speak to them on this.
Definitely get any other funds paid into a non-HBOS account so that they cannot get their hands on it.0 -

99% of the time I agree with you. Being assertive and clear in your requests tends to get the desired result.
However occasionally when the party concerned does not make any concessions, I have resorted to aggression and it can work - if you are persistent then they can eventually get to the stage of "oh I just want rid of this person, give them what they want !!". Not nice, but it has worked.
There is a very fine line between Assertive and Aggressive, never ever use bad language as they can refuse to speak to you any further and if at all possible refrain from raising voices as again this can result in a terminated conversion. I have used lines such as :
"If **** bank insists on this course of action, then I deem them thieves and will be taking them to the appopriate authorities"
"I was told XYZ, you are now telling me this is not true. Does **** bank condone their employees telling lies ?"
"You appear to be miss-informed with regard to your own products, perhaps you can transfer me to someone who knows what they they are talking about"
At the end of the day they are CSAs (Customer Service Advisors) and they should be experienced in dealing with customers, irate or not. That is what they are paid for.0 -

They're one big happy family I'm afraid. Time to look elsewhere.0
